About Me

Hej Hej! :)

I am Juliano, traveling around Europe during my staying in Sweden. I am doing my bachelor in Halmstad, Sweden (quite small city, but if you are interested coming, it will be my pleasure to host you here).

It is kind of hard for me to describe myself. Due to this reason, I asked my friend Janne from Germany to do it for me because I also think it makes it more real if it is not me who write about myself, and here it goes (read with sarcasm filter):

"So what is important to know about Juliano? First of all it is really crucial to know that in Brazil the spoken language is Portuguese (NOT “Brazilian” - you wouldn't be the first one to make this mistake) and according to first hand sources Brazilian people are the best in the world. That might not be true but in fact (at least for this one) they are very hospitable, welcoming people and they are cleaning all the time. He is a very open minded person that you can sit with and talk and laugh for hours (not without his coffee of course) as well as go to parties where he (almost all the time) looks out for his friends. Juliano fell in love with Europe, its people, the cultures and the landscapes, even though he tries to collect as many stereotypes as possible to be able to do the one or other joke. He is a real blast to hang out with but he also enjoys discovering places on his own very much and getting to know strangers everywhere in the world."

Quotes I am fond of:

“You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.” - We bought a Zoo (2011)

"You think it's cool to hate things. And it's not. It's boring. Talk about what you love and keep quiet about what you don't." - Liberal Arts (2012)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is a good way to "go local". Usually when you are just visiting the place, you do not know how is it to live there and so on. Couchsurfing is a good way to go deeper in the country's culture, to get to know local people and I think it makes me feel more comfortable when I am visiting a place and I know someone who lives there.

Interests

Crazy about movies. A conversation about movies with me can take lots of time and this is something I really enjoy doing :) I have watched many movie titles in my life and I still feel like I have not watched enough, that I am missing good ones.

I am curious by nature. I like to know about the movies I have not watched, the music I have not listened, the culture I do not know much about, the religion I am not part of, the mores of a community I am not part of and so on... I like to think that I am interested for knowing everything that is worth knowing :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Iceland to visit the country in a very different way I am used to when I am a tourist. I rent a Campervan to travel around the country and sleep when I wanted to and where I wanted to. The experience was just amazing! Having the Campervan, sleeping in anywhere I could stop, eating food I cooked inside the van and experiencing a really radical way of travelling. Iceland is already an awesome country to visit, but the experience that I had for sure made it even better!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden
