About Me

CURRENT MISSION

stay curious, never stop wondering

ABOUT ME

I've lived and worked in Australia for almost 10 years now, born in northern Germany and always travelled a lot. Love listening to people's stories, love sport and being/ and sleeping outdoors and could probably not imagine anymore not living close to an ocean. Coffee addict. I'm a volunteer lifesaver with North Bondi Surfclub, trying to make people more aware of safety in the ocean.

PHILOSOPHY

our heads are roundish so thoughts can change directions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Curious to learn all about couch surfing, meeting people who know all about it and maybe try it myself soon! Right now (Nov 10) I've got an assignment of a german magazine to write a feature about couch surfing as a new travel option. So I'd love to meet and stay with people who are happy to share their experiences with not only me... but some readers as well! So I'll participate by spreading the word... but don't blame me if there will be heaps of more Germans around Oz couches soon....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

not much chouchsurfing experience (except from staying over at friends, getting stranded in bizarre places and visiting back home towns where I don't live anymore ) so far, but can't wait because this way of traveling somehow sounds really inspiring, un-boring, interesting, new.
update, nov 15th: just surfed my first couch / well a lovely airbed to be precise, met 1 host and 2 couchsurfes and had a great experience!

Interests

I surf or swim pretty much every day if possible, got back into running, (hm, medium keen, but think it is good for me), love books, movies, red wine, chats, discussions, languages, theatre, yoga, wine tasting, debating, thinking, hiking, camping. I love paintings, aboriginal art, drawings and Auguste Rodin.

Music, Movies, and Books

yes, movies, books, music. sure, but not so good at fitting them in these lists...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

bathed an elephant in Laos.
experienced incredibly remote places in Australia.
cycled for days and nights through Paris (long live the Velib! ) and finally understood that city.
surfed waves with dolphins

Teach, Learn, Share

happy to share all I know about the ocean, rips, currents and how to stay safe in the water whilst enjoying it to the max! Surf is a great place, but you have to know the waves are always more powerful than we are.
