About Me

Hi there, my name is Julie, I'm a cheerful and clumsy Dutchie that is always curious to meet people and share stories and wine. My favorite things are jam sessions, old buildings, dad jokes and watching people's running moves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking for a more authentic experience while traveling than that I can find in hotels en hostels. When I'm visiting a city or country, I want to know how people over there spend their days, what food they eat, which places they consider their favorites in town, how they feel about their country and what they talk about with their friends. When I'm in The Netherlands, I love to return the favor and show people Dutchieland-behind-the-scenes!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Big love for those underground indie bands in your local music venue that play five euro gigs in front of twelve people and haven't come up with the idea to start wearing skinny jeans yet. I love to collect local favorites of people that I meet while traveling.
Movies: There exists an embarrassing gap in my common knowledge where the classics are supposed to be. I saw Casablanca for the first time in 2019, whilst I somehow winded up involuntarily seeing most Adam Sandler movies. Feel free to make fun of me first and educate me about your favorite classics second.
Books: Mostly into Dutch novels, but trying to get into Spanish literature and reading a lot of non-fiction in English.
Podcasts: Not on this list, but they should be!:) Podcasts are one of my favorite things while on the road. Curious to hear what you listen to!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I found a way to travel and work at the same time. Thanks to that, I have been able to travel for the better part of the last three years. The 12-year-old in me is high-fiving me every day for that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I sing (reasonably well) and I play the guitar (exceptionally bad). Musician? Let's jam!:)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My veggie lasagna is all yours!:)
