About Me

I am Julie, 25 years old and from Germany. I just graduated from university in political science/international relations. Now that I gained back my free time (after 5 years of studying), I will travel to the US, Australia and New Zealand before starting my job in June.

People that know me usually describe me as I am an open-minded, energetic, adventurous and socially and politically interested person. I am well traveled and speak 5 languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Italian) which will hopefully enable a good communication. However, I must admit that it’s been a while that I learned Spanish in Mexico, so I might need to work on that. But I’d be happy to practice my Spanish!

Other than this, I am an active person and I love water sports such as surfing and windsurfing. Sometimes I go for a run, and I read a lot, especially when traveling.

So far I have made great experiences with Couchsurfing during my gap year, living and volunteering in different countries. Whenever I stayed with people, I tried to give something back, for example through cooking lunch or dinner. My friends like my Shakshuka, so if you do too, I’d be happy to cook that for you.

In Australia, I’ll be mainly traveling around with a van, thus bringing a sleeping mattress and bag which will make hosting easier (I hope).

If you want to know more about me, you can also contact me on instagram (juliesophiee). I don’t use it that much though, so don’t be surprised if you’ll only find one picture there…

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people, have challenging conversations and learn more about different cultures. While traveling around I would like to hang around with locals so that I can really experience the culture and not only the tourist spots. That’s why I do Couchsurfing and try to avoid touristy places such as hostels. Luckily, I had only good CS experiences so far!

Interests

I love hiking and water activities like surfing, snorkeling, windsurfing and diving.
