Overview
About Me
I am a 21 year old girl from Denmark, who is an au pair in the US at the moment.
I have been here since July 2015 and I am going to stay here till July 2016.
My friends describe me as a very open minded person - and I think it has something to do with that I love meeting new people.
I would describe myself as a very down on earth kind of person, and I love exploring cities and get to know new people. It's actually "funny" because before I came to the US I loved going on vacation and staying at the pool all week or for however long I was away, but after I moved to the US I would rather like to come out and explore - I want to see what each city has to offer! I wanna go to the small and cute restaurants that have those good cookies or fries everybody talks about, I wanna climb that mountain everybody finds too high, I wanna dance in the raining city and I want to take pictures of all the beautiful buildings. I want to be filled with good experiences that I'll never forget! Of course there will always be those experiences where you think "not something I want to relive" but then I know that and then hopefully I've learned something from it.
Besides that I am pretty easy-going and I love bad jokes - so just bring them!
My first language is Danish so it's not always I follow 100% when I have a conversation with Americans - especially not if they talk very fast or talk about politics, haha.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling, and one year in the US is not a long time and I want to experience as much as possible, while I am here with my friends. I don't earn that much as an au pair, but I still want to see other parts of the US, but is has to be in the cheapest way as possible. That is one of the reasons why I am on Couchsurfing - but besides that I also like to meet new people. So, when I heard about Couchsurfing, I saw it as a win-win situation for me! Because now I have the chance to travel around in the US in a cheap way but I also have the chance to meet new people.. Win win!
Besides that, I don't know much about the US and with couchsurfing I get the chance to be introduced to the different cities by the hosts. I love if the hosts want to share their experiences in their city or just want to tell me about what's good about it! I want to know about all of the hidden treasures!
Interests
I love being active, I love listening to music and watching movies, cooking - and eating ;-), meeting new people and last but not least I love having a good time!
I'm a big fan of movies in rainy days and a big fan of hiking when it's sunny.
When I go back home to Denmark I want to study journalism and right now I spend a lot of time writing. I'm also a big fan of photography and my phone never has enough space of my many pictures.
Give me a bunch of pictures and a good editing program and I'm entertained for the evening.
I'm very interested in to learn how to cook good meals. Last year I cooked every day and it truly challenged me because I had never cooked before in my life! But this definitely made me even more I interested in how to grill a chicken, make a good sauce or how to bake good, soft cookies. I

Music, Movies, and Books
Netflix, nothing beats Netflix. With Netflix I have all I need.
Buuut I'm a girl with a big G! I love gossip girl, Grey's anatomy, Friends, 90210 and Sex and the city, and I think I've watched all the shows a few times each.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I left all of my friends and my family, so that I could go to the US for a year - I mean, I think that is an amazing thing to do and I am actually really proud of myself.
A few years ago I also walked 150 kilometers of the "el Camino de Santiago" route which was one of the hardest but also greatest experiences ever! I did it with some of my friends and this route didn't only show us some of Spains beautiful nature but it also introduced us to new people who wanted the same experience as us. Besides that, I would also say the route made me realize that with friends you can do anything. I was ready to die a few times during those 10 days because oh gosh, it was so hot every single day and with a huge backpack on your back it just makes you want to lie down and cry. But my friends were there for me and this journey was a huge success. Not only are they my friends - this day today they are my very best friends!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love telling about my home country - because apparently not that many people know that much about Denmark. And as more as I tell about it the more I realize how much it has to offer. I would love to teach you about Denmark and about the very famous word "hygge" that we have in Denmark. And if you've never heard about this word before you truly have to host me because you need the definition of it in your life! I mean, Denmark is the happiest country in the world and it's partly because of "hygge"!! But yea, I can always tell you more about that.
I'm not really a person who can brag about a lot of stuff I have to offer, because I didn't really start to live my life until 1,5 year ago so I still don't always know much about a lot of things. Soooo I would definitely love if we share the same interest in something and you want to teach me more about the subject. I am a very curious person and want to learn about all the good things life has to offer - so if you know about some of these things, please bring it. I want to learn as much as possible about everything - even if it is about how fries are made because I'm actually still not sure I know anything that process ;-)
