About Me
Hi, I'm Julie :)
I'm currently student in my second year of a language applied degree (English, Spanish, Management and chinese option). I'm also in a trail club at Uni (I love any kind of sports and just started Trail this year: 2025). Originally from a town in the south of France. I love to meet new people and getting stuck in with new challenges, foods, and culture!
My first time taking the plane and being abroad so far away was in Canada. I studied English there (2021-22) for 7 months while living in a host family with 3 roommates, all from different countries. I discovered different way to think and I loved the time spent with them ! Also, i discovered a passion for hiking and matcha latte there.
I love to learn new things and to travel with a purpose as a volunteer in Colombia or an internship in Thailand for school, or simply visiting and enjoying food like I did in Japan, trying local instruments and tea ceremony or even sleeping in a temple and try meditation in the north of Thailand. All my experiences were amazing, I'm really grateful for the people I met, what I got to see, learn, and try ! :)
I also like playing violin 🎻 (but I usually don't bring it abroad as it's not convenient). I like going out (around the city, in a café, to try food, going for a hike or other activities...).

Music, Movies, and Books
I like many different types of music. Depends on the mood/situation. I like to discover music from different countries too.
MOVIE
"Lucy", "1917", "Hunger games", "interstellar" and "the truman show" are the ones coming in my mind. It's good movies.
SERIES
The series The Queen's Gambit was nice.
BOOK
I'm into "Solo leveling" and other type of book in the same kind (manga/webtoon/manhua).
I also read stupeur et tremblements by Amélie Nothomb (she speaks about her work in Japan) and Le Combat d'hiver by Jean-Claude Mourlevat (I remember spending a good time with this one too). Also, "Retour à Reims" in my high school economic class, it was good.
I said some names, but it's the ones coming in my mind to give an idea.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living alone at 18 yo in Canada was really awesome and enriching! Living in a temple for a couple of days, trying new instruments and hitchhiking in Japan was one of the best experiences ever, I met amazing people. I feel like meeting all those amazing people (randomly or on CS) helps me to be a better person.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help with French language and English practice (hablo un poco español pero es limitado). I have some little knowledge of Japanese (from high school) and Chinese (option in Uni).
We can share many conversations and tips about our culture and travel :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be glad to share my travel stories and hearing yours as well.
I'm a basic cooker, I know how to make 'quiche Lorainne' as well as some dessert like 'pain perdu' or 'crêpe'. I'll be glad to cook together or go out as well ! Also, if you want to practice French, I'm happy to help out :)
