Sobre mí

I am an Anthropologist and Historian, currently in the fast food industry. However I have super cool parents who like to invest in things so I have a nice house basically to myself because they got it for a steal after an estate sale. Their plan is to flip it, but I am in a secure living condition in a nice part of Tulsa. Close to Downtown, but also next to a highway so I can easily transport myself around the city.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

My inspiration for couch surfing is Amanda Palmer. She is an inspiration for my life. Also my cousin is apparently traveling across South America using this web site.

Música, películas y libros

Per Music:
Amanda Palmer is one of my favorite musicians. I am also a fan of Passion Pit and Modest Mouse. Ellie Goulding. Flogging Molly and The Glitch Mob. I am a big fan of P!nk, April Smith, and Sleeper Agent. Oh, and the Tune-Yards are fantastic! so is Ida Maria! That is just listing off some people and bands on my playlists. Sometimes i can turn on the radio and enjoy myself, but I really rather listen to my personal collection via Pandora or Spotify. I can enjoy "bad" pop and hip-hop too, on a critiquing level.

Per Movies:
My not so guilty pleasure is Cloud Atlas. I also like everything that Marvel is putting out right now, and Guardians of the Galaxy is a "right now" favorite, just as Avengers was a few years ago. I like action movies more than I like romance movies and I feel like I am filling out a dating site form.

Per Books:
I am not as well read as I would like to be. Children's books can be a great escape from life. My not really guilty pleasure is the Percy Jackson series, and I am familiar with Harry Potter for the sake of my older sister. However, we are working on putting a library in the house - hopefully that increases my readings. Other than children's books, I do enjoy a good action or thriller book, or just terrible romance novels. For college I ended up reading a lot on current social issues, history, and relationships. If that floats your boat

Algo increíble que he hecho

I haven't died yet.

I have also been to Canada, Mexico, and China... I have a story from each

In Canada I ice skated on a frozen lake. Years later I read about the lake - and its name is escaping me - in a textbook at school, and I was like "hey guess what I did." It was cool when I was in 5th grade

In Mexico I swam in a cenote, which is a sinkhole that runs down into an underground river. So I swam in an underground river. It was near the Tulum ruins in the Yucatan peninsula. The tour guide told us stories about manatees swimming in the underground rivers, and people being able to swim with them at certain times. I want to go back and try that. If you Google "Cenote" wikipedia and probably Google Images has the picture of the cenote I swam in. Or a Cracked article about all the dead bodies at the bottom. This was one of my favorite experiences...

In China I did the typical tourist things. Saw the Xian terracotta warriors - which was awesome, and sad because when they have contact with the air their paint disintegrates. Went to Beijing and saw the smog and the Forbidden city, and rang a big bell at an old Buddhist temple. I also spranged my ankle on the great wall of China. So there is that... The section of the wall we went to went in a big circle and was supposed to act as a big cage in case the Mongols got through that section of wall. One direction lead to a smooth path full of tourists, the other, a steep path that most of the tourists walked down or didn't touch. My parents decided to go up that part. Halfway through we got rushed down again, "the wall is closing!" our guide said. The steps were very worn down, and my tour guide caught me when I slipped and twisted my ankle. My mom bought a cold coke to use as ice. Yes this is my favorite story - and not the first time or last I have hurt my poor ankles.

Also In my own country I have seen the Grand Canyon, the Redwoods and Great Sequoias, skied in multiple states and swam in multiple springs...

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I have been told, and generally agree, that my city is a beautiful one. Tulsa is kind of like a mini Austin, but closer to the middle of the US. We have some good night life - and if you make it here on the first Friday of the month we have a cool art crawl. Per me, well I hope to graduate and travel far. Learning about other people, and I never thought about it before... but teaching about my country - America. Specifically the Southern part.
