About Me

I'm in the process of getting a certificate to teach English as a Second Language. I live in a place that I wouldn't consider international but there are people from a lot of different places here because of the university as well as refugee settlement. I love to travel and learn about the cultures of other people. I have been to many countries on 5 different continents. I do have one cat and I am going to be re-doing parts of my house. If you don't mind those things, my home is welcome to female travelers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I need to go to NYC to do the student teaching part of the ESL certificate. Someone told me about this website since I said I'm on a low budget. I recently quit my job, so I am looking for help to not drain my savings during the 10 days I will be in NYC. My only job prospect on returning is a part time teaching position with not so great pay. Therefore, I'm hoping not to drain my savings so I don't have to take out loans to finish fixing my house for selling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm eclectic in my music choices, because I like a wide variety. It depends mostly on my mood and how my ears are doing. I have severe ringing at times because I went to many concerts when I was younger without ear protection. Movies - I tend to like espionage and action. I also like the occasional rom-coms and adventures. No horror at all. Books range from classics like Jane Austen to modern like Robert Ludlum (Bourne series).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in 6 different countries in two weeks 6 years ago. I went with a group that was delivering aid to people in need in Southeast Asia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not sure what to put here. I think I'm a teacher by nature as I enjoy sharing information and building others up especially in knowledge and understanding of the world. I'm not originally from SC, so I've been learning and had to go through cultural adjustment when I came here.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have traveled to many places, so I guess I can share my experiences and travel tips. A couple of my trips were solo or led by myself. I like to shoot photography. Though, I am an amateur. I like to learn about people's experiences and cultures. I am a respectful person, so I stick to my own things unless something is specifically offered. I like to cook and I am willing to cook for anyone if I have the time. I can keep to myself if preferred. I can also be open and sharing if given the opportunity.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bhutan, Botswana, Canada, Ecuador, Greece, India, Jamaica, Japan, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Viet Nam
