About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Julie and I'm originally from the Boston area. I'm currently a PhD student at the University of Florida, studying bat ecology. I split my time between Gainesville, Florida, Swaziland, and Denmark. I am currently living in Copenhagen as I collaborate with a lab at the University of Copenhagen.

I really enjoy traveling and especially being outdoors. I especially enjoy climbing and hiking, but I also like to walk around cities and just get a feel for new places.

PHILOSOPHY

I am very spontaneous and adventurous and I always try to explore new places and take advantage of every opportunity I get to do something interesting. I also try to listen to my survival instinct and not do anything too stupid / crazy (especially when I'm traveling by myself).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started participating a few years ago, showing people around Budapest. I also couchsurfed when I lived in Brazil and when I hitchhiked from Barcelona to Budapest with my husband, Herve'. I have hosted couchsurfers in Brazil, Budapest, and Copenhagen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All positive! I loved showing off Budapest to visitors, especially to those who weren't expecting to like the city as much as they did.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a tough... The most beautiful place I've seen is probably the Dolomites in Italy. The mountains and landscapes are simply spectacular.

I also almost got hit by lightening and had a close encounter with a grizzly bear...
