Music, Movies, and Books

I love current alternative music, and music of almost any type from the 60's to the 2000's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before going to India I researched fun-looking restaurants . Found the Bob Marley Restaurant, a cafe within a hostel. From our super fancy hotel in Agra (not our style, basically got it for free on a package tour) I called the restaurant. The man who answered said yes, he could give us cooking lessons. He said he could come over and pick us up and take us to his home (the hostel/restaurant). My husband and I drove back with him to experience Agra from the POV of a resident. We kicked back with him and had some sodas, took a tour of his house, met his family and some hostel guests who were learning Hindi. We watched the roaming cows and donkeys in the street from his balcony. Later we each cooked our own Indian meal in his tiny kitchen. Back at the hotel, our fellow travelers couldn't believe we had gotten into a car with a stranger in a foreign country, and eaten food from his kitchen. That experience is the kind of magic I get every time I travel. Incidentally, we can't imagine ever taking a group tour again, and we were the only members of the tour NOT to get sick from the food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook delicious vegan meals which appeal to meat eaters. I can fix almost anything in the house with materials on hand. I can show you how to get almost anything for free. I can talk to you about meditation.
