Hey guys! My name is Julien and I'm a travelcoholic. I have a burning desire to see the beautiful world we call home. I've been working in Antarctica for the past year or so and have been traveling in between. I really love people. Usually when I find I like a particular place it's because of the people I have met.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My experiences through CouchSurfing and Airbnb have been yielded some great friends (which is the idea I think). I like to do the touristy things in a new place but at the end of the day the pulse of a place is kept beating by the people that live there not the tourists. Seeing a place through the eyes of a local I think gives me a more real snapshot of what life is like in the place I'm visiting.

Also meeting people satisfies my soul, and Couchsurfing is a great way to meet the kind of people that I want to meet.

Interests

Food and libations of course! Exploring local food is one my main goals when traveling. Music is also important to me and I enoy seeing local bands. I love learning about the culture and history of a city. I am also interested in fire service, and I always visit a fire station when visiting a new city. I love seeing the weird parts of a place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to Antarctica twice. But that's easier than you'd think. I guess it's amazing I didn't go crazy haha. Oh, I drove from Orlando to South Carolina with no brakes once! I got to watch a rocket launch from my job. I played an outdoor New Year's Eve concert in Antarctica.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good times, and (I like to think at least) good company! I can cook, clean, or whatever is needed. I have travel a fair amount of places and can share those experiences. I also love to try and recruit people to become a firefighter, go to Antarctica or attend Burning Man (things I'm passionate about)!
