About Me

I absolutely love to randomly decide to go some place through the many cheap travelling options that are around these days and just see whatever will happen! Of course this is even better whilst meeting new people, and I believe couchsurfing is the ultimate way to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of favorite music and movies, I will probably touch on some clichés, but they are truly pieces of art. My favorite album, which never gets boring is definitely "Into the Wild" by Eddie Vedder. Anyone would instantly get the need to wander off when listening this album.
Moviewise I would have to say "Dances with Wolves". A legendary film about a lieutenant wanting to discover the american frontiers before they are colonised. Its a very slow movie, but very much into the vibe of the setting. A man on his own in the outstretched wild west, getting into touch with nature, meeting native americans, slowly growing attached to his new lifestyle while despising the old. Absolute masterpiece, also great job by kevin costner, must-see!
A great book which I am currently reading is "The invention of Nature, the adventures of Alexander von Humboldt" by Andrea Wulf which follow von Humboldt on his travels through the world trying to unravel Earth's geographical and meteorological mysteries. Von Humboldt travelled all over the world and compared his findings to develop intricate ideas on Ecosystems. I haven't finished it yet but I really enjoy reading it and I would definitely recommend it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most recent weird / amazing thing I have done, was running the beer marathon in Liege in last week! 42.2 kilometers and 16 beers on the road. The theme was western, so we decided to wear cardboxes which we made into a classic wild-west saloon and bank. Obviously we did not train enough so we died at the halfway point. Luckily on the road they offered waffels, apple pie, and fries with meatballs to go along with those beers so that we were able to get to the finish. I was happy to learn that the finish meant recovering with more beers!
