About Me

Hey there!

My name is Julien, or Julian, or 리앙, or 朱亮, or ジュリアン.

I am a French guy who has been living in Asia for a while, who enjoys traveling the world. I just finished studying Chinese for 6 months in Taiwan, after working in South Korea and soon going to Japan with a one year working holiday visa. Will be traveling to China from June 11 to July 11 and I am sooooo freaking excited about this ^^.

I don't know where to start from, so... if I had to pick three words to describe myself I would probably go for "open-mided", "foodie", "talkative", "curious" and "sarcastic". I know these are five, but I couldn't choose, so pick the three of these you like best ^^

As you may have noticed, I am a language enthousiast... I really wish I could learn them all, but I will try to focus on 8 of them for the next few years. I will be really glad if your native language is one of these!

When I travel and I like to spend hours walking around cities or countryside, going to the places where all tourists go, as well as places only locals go. I never get tired of observing people and trying to take the best pictures I can.

As I said earlier, I am a foodie in the sense that I want to try everything, take picture of meal, eat everything and in the sense that I like 99% of what I try, especially when it's too salty, sweet, bitter, spicy, sour, umami, smelly or even when it is not gluten-free.

However, the paradox here is that when I find something I like , especially at the beginning of a trip, I tend to keep eating it always as I am afraid I won't be able to get it anywhere else, and then miss many opportunities to discover more nice food -_-

So please help me fight against this tendency I have and let me know what to eat in your country. I want to discover your city from your point of view and I would be glad to follow any piece of advice you may recommend, to hear any story you could tell me and chat about litterally anything, from what shoes suits your t-shirt's color best to our countries' lastest political scandals or the meaning of life.

This may sound like Miss Universe's words, but I am really serious when I say that I really want to learn about every country's culture, history or traditions, and that I wish we all live together in peaceful and friendly world.

Also, nothing related to Miss Universe (I think?), but I'd like to mention here that I am gay that I have been with my boyfriend for five years now.

Don't get me wrong, I am just saying this so that people that don't want to host gay couchsurfers can just avoid doing so and won't make both of us feel unconfortable >_<

If you happen to play for the same team then that's awesome and I'd love it if you could show around your city's gay spots, but please keep in mind that I have a lover and that I don't want to visit your pants.

Last but not least, but since we're in the disclaimer part I probably have to mention it : I don't have too much of a French accent. I don't know if it's good or dissapointing to you, but for some reason I don't really know, 85% of people mention it when they first talk to me... so... voilà! :P

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been traveling around before and wanted to try couchsurfing, but always ended up in hostels.

However lately I've heard such awesome experiences from friends and family members that I think I've missed so much by not trying couchsurfing earlier.

So here I am! Ready to hang out, joke around, learn, share, talk, hike, party, walk, run, swim, sing, eat, drink and so on... but not smoke though, I quit three years ago :P

Needless to say that I am a clean person, that I care about people who are kind enough to host me for few days, and that I will try to do my best not to be a burden for you, by making my bed, wash dishes, and pay attention to my surroundings.
