ABOUT ME

If you didn't notice, we are two in this Couch surfing's profile ; my name is Julien and Charline is my girlfriend. It's been tree years now that we live together un Montreal. We are at our second and last year of master program in litterature (Julien) and communication (Charline). We both studied french and quebec litterature before, and this is how we met. So let's say we like to read, to learn, to see and experience different things.
We both are creative and curious persons. Of course, we like books, music, museums and cinema. Moreover, we like cats, road trips, taking walks, cooking and laughing. We are hockey fans, but not really sporty. We are sociable, but enjoy coocooning

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We surfed two years ago in Czech Republica, Germany and Austria, and last summer in Argentina. We also received surfers in our flat in Montreal, wich was a wonderful experience that made us feel in vacations while we were in the middle of our semester! We love our city and our neighborhood, and even if Montreal can seem less attractive and is less touristic than other big cities, we are convinced that it's a wonderful place to hang out, to meet interesting and open minded people. And most of all, Montreal is the best hockey city in the world, Go Habs Go!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As we just said, we surfed for one month in central Europe in 2009, and in Argentina in 2010. All of our hosts were so generous, so kind and so helpfull that we are always willing to give back what we received. Also the people that stayed with us in Montreal increased our interest in participating to this community.

Bran van 3000, Gorillaz, Arcade Fire, Beck, Mano Negra, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, The Shins, Damien Rice, Massive Attack, Portishead, Beirut, DJ Shadow.
We also listen music in french: Jean Leloup, M, Karkwa, Malajube, Camille, Thomas Fersen, Breastfeeders, Orange Orange, Loco Locass, Richard Desjardins, Yann Perreau, Xavier Caféine, etc.
For Julien: almost everything that is on Ninja tune, RZA, GZA, Wu, cinematic orchestra, opeth, peuple de l'herbe, IAM, Arcade fire, Supertramp, pink floyd, KMFDM, NIN, johny cash, Ratatat, Kreator.

We have both interest in litterature. Our favorite autors: Colette, Baudelaire, Hubert Aquin, Henry Miller, Réjean Ducharme, Dostoïevsky, Gaston Miron, Hervé Guibert, etc.

Usuallly, we don't have the same interests in movies, but we agree that these ones are great: Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, True Romance, City of God, Trainspotting, Life of the others, Star Wars, Hot Fuzz, Romeo and Juliet, Dead Poet Society, La haine, Dédé à travers les brumes, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine.

Teach, Learn, Share

Our language is the most precious thing we have! Of course, we speak a french wich is really different than what we hear in France, and for us, it is the best thing we could share. Also, we are really intersted in learning other's language, this is one of the reason why we wanted to subscribe to couch surfing.
