About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm generally talkative and maybe a little bit absent-minded. If you're really passionate about something, I'll probably want to hear all about it.

I like the beach but I'm scared of the ocean (ask me why, I love telling that story).

PHILOSOPHY

Very unoriginal, but 'Live and let live' (for the most part)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea of couch surfing because I think it's cool that people are willing to take chances on complete strangers. It takes the best kind of optimism.

Also, looking back, the great people I've met while travelling were as important in my travel narrative as any landmark or place. They invariably turned good experiences into great ones and bad experiences into funny stories.

Interests

Reading, history, art, folk music, dumb action movies.

Slight obsession with Settlers of Catan and 90s music.

Also, I'm a big Joss Whedon fan so if you want to talk about Firefly or Angel, I'm your gal.

Music: Jakob Dylan, Luke Doucet, Barenaked Ladies

Movies: Clueless, Serenity, Clue, and pretty much any ridiculous blockbuster where there's lots of shooting but the bad guys have inexplicably bad aim.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to Asia after finishing my history degree and stayed for about a year and a half.

I hitchhiked around the east coast of Canada.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it's my least favourite quality. It doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought what they were going get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, amazing things will happen." - Conan O'brien, that handsome devil

A sincere and well intentioned attempt at speaking whatever language you speak if it isn't English (although some liquid courage is required)

Feigned interest in overly heated political discussions ;)
