ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Juliette callebaut. I come from belgium and my current life project is to travel/live/meander in south america soon, arriving in buenos aires on the 16th of october. My (current) idea and dream is to travel and walk my way through the worlds of circus, street theatre and music in Argentina and then.... where the wind blows. I want to discover and explore different ways of doing things, of thinking, of acting within society and of living in general. I wand to go meet and discover people. I wish to go with and open heart and mind, ready to learn, be challenged, and bring/ contribute what I can offer to the places and people I will encounter. I am mostly willing to explore and make space for my creativity - circus, (street) théâtre, music, dance,... - the horizons are broad. I have been involved in community and activist projects during the past two years in Maastricht, where I studied. We ran as a group a political and cultural center in an old office building that we renovated and transformed into a home and a community center. This involved a lot of creativity and skills in building, renovation, space transformation, but also in communal organization of event, living with people and.... just people in general. I would love to make of this travel a deep immersion inside humanity, which is why I think coachsurfing is a great community platform to guide my steps and help make my way !

My philosophy of life?

- Laughing and play.. I love laughing, i think it is one of the most beautiful gift we have to make our way through life; to enjoy what is light and beautiful, as well as going through the difficult moments
- Get out of your comfort zone.. "All the most beautiful adventures of my life have started with fear". We all have fears lying inside us, by speaking them out and sharing them, its my way to dive into them
- Honesty, authenticity and respect.. I want to live my life along with my ideologies and beliefs. I am tired of thinking and speaking great things but not living according to what I want. So yeah, authenticity weehooooo!!
- Life is Political.. "The personal is political". That's one of the thing I learned while learning and reading more about feminism, and I deeply believe in it. Every single thing we do, choose, speak, buy, consume, create has an impact on society, and this is how every single instant can be a revolution!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

During my travels - Argentina, Chile, Brasil, ... - and wherever else the wind blows...
I would like to dive deep inside humanity, I want to go meet people, discover and explore different ways of doing things, of thinking, of acting within society and of living in general.

Intereses

I love music... Music if life and truly helps me when I am in difficult situations.
I love theatre as well, and play in general.
I think there are immense possibilities in theatre, performance and play - there are mediums to pass messages, to turn around cliches, stereotypes and judgments, there are a tool to create worlds in which everything is possible, and when everything is possible, there are no more borders to the dreams!

- Ain't got no life from Nina Simone. Nina Simone is one of my great inspiration of the moment, thank you Nina Simone.
- Lhasa de Sela !!! Another beautiful and powerful woman bringing light and life in my ears
- Atab from Ched Obeid. A song I share two very good friends of mine and who constantly remind me of them, and it makes me smile :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

Two years ago, I got involved in a cultural and political project in Maastricht, the town in Holland where i was studying.
It might seem very benign, simple and ordinary, but it was all of the opposite for me. This place opened thousands of unknown doors and possible to me: community life, organizing and running a project together with other people, learning how to live deeply with people and all that it entails (communication, emotions, challenges, histories, boundaries, joy, and crazily amazing connections. I think i just didn't know friendships could be that deep).
I could spend hours more talking about it, yet one words stay clear in my mind: empowerment and having this deep-seated feeling that each one of us hold the power to bring change in this crazy society.

Right this moment, I want to explore my creativity - circus, (street) théâtre, music, dance,... !!
I love to sail and love to share it with people.
Talking and re-making the world with words and actions is one of my favorite things to do on a rainy sunday morning....
In general, I love to learn and share things that surprise me.
