About Me

Hi, I'm 25yo from the Netherlands. I discovered couchsurfing while travelling through Australia and it has been awesome. I had many experienced that were so much better than I had ever expected. I met some unbelievably kind, fun, interesting and generous people.

I found couchsurfing is really good for finding a place to stay of course, but it's also fun and fascinating to get to know all kinds of different people in this way, talk about each other's culture and view on life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I tried couchsurfing with some people I was travelling with, at first really just to find a place to stay, but actually it was a lot of fun to meet people with all kinds of different backgrounds and be able to have very interesting conversations and enjoy people's kindness and generosity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shantaram is definitely my favorite novel. Lately I've been reading some good books on buddhism. Inner paths to outer space was very interesting as well.

Movies there are just too many! I love movies that stir emotion and have deep philosophical and/or spiritual meaning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences that changed me a lot was a month long intensive yoga course on Koh Phangan, Thailand with Agama yoga (tantric/hatha yogic-philosophical current). Doing this type of yoga 6 days a week completely changes your state of mind and gave me a basis to practice yoga and meditation the rest of my life, but especially meeting a lot open-minded and -hearted people with beautifully different views on the world than the society I come from and that feel much more true and valuable to me was incredibly enriching!

After this I had a similar experience in a buddhist centre in QLD, Australia. I stayed there for two months, made some friends for life and got the chance to learn a lot about buddhism because of the kind people there wanting to teach me whatever they knew.

After this I had yet another experienve that I will never forget and that has given some true meaning and direction to my life. I did a Goenka Vipassana meditation retreat in Sweden, meditating 105 hours in 10 days in Noble Silence, so only you and your mind. This was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it brought me so much.

This is almost getting normal now, but yet another life changing experience was an Ayahuasca retreat follew by a San Pedro retreat 3 weeks after that. I will never find words to describe this, but I feel it has helped me so much to release negativity and open myself to my intuition and other people.

I see now that such experiences and places are what I need to pursue to feel alive and deeply connect with people. I'm so grateful that life has somehow led me to this.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love meeting people with an interest in spirituality and philosophy and share our views with each other. I find this is very important to progress on the path.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very flexible. If you want I'd love to go around your town or have dinner together for example, or if you want some peace and quiet I'm very good at enjoying myself by myself ;)
