About Me

*** Welcome to the profile of Alexandra and Phillip! ***
"In order to conquer a city, you have to conquer it's soul first!"

---------------------
Since 2017, Alexandra and me - recently we got married and now she is my wife - are happily living together in Frankfurt and offer our guest room to Couchsurfer. It's always a great pleasure to welcome Traveller from all over the world to our lovely home. 100 % positive experience with everybody we have hostet or where we surfed a couch! We like to spend time with out Couchsurfer, have long conversation, discover the city or do some cooking together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Now it's five years ago when I joined couchsurfing.

My first couches have been in Sweden and all around Germany. My opinion to travelling and sleeping on foreigners couches changed soon: At first, I used Couchsurfing so I could have a place to sleep during my travel. Nowadays I use couchsurfing to make new friends all around the world. Couchsurfer are wonderful people, I love to see their home, meet their families and to understand their culture and discuss our opinions and way of live. Together with Alexandra in our new flat, we started not only to surf couches, but to offer our Couch to you.

Couchsurfing is now our reason to go on a journey in the first place. There are so many wonderful memories: I have the piano with a couchsurfer and her friends in a bar in Norway, went on top of the highest mountains of Switzerland with my host and prepared authentic and delicious dinner with my lovely Italian Couchsurfing-family.

Interests

I LOVE LOVE LOVE MUSIC:
Through playing the piano I got a job to play the organ in church; So much fun!

- Theatre: Ballett, Opera, classical concerts is our life. Everywhere city we go, we visit the opera house and the local theatre - sometimes even if it's in a local language we don't understand. But it's fun!

- Sauna, Wellness, Spa, Gym and fitness: Just 5 minutes from where we live, there is the most wonderful spa / gym you can imagine: "Meridian Spa Skyline Plaza" - it even has a rooftop-jacuzzi with a Skyscraper-view of Frankfurt! We go there twice a week, do some sport and fitness course and relax after that in the sauna or pools. A couple of times, even our Couchsurfer joined us.

- Travelling: (of course - on Couchsurfing, what else?) We love the mountains, nature, waterfalls, go hiking, taking a cable car to the top of the mountains to have a view…. Alexandra is very keen to climb up to visit the castles.

- Music: W love Music, from rock to classical Music and opera - Music is my Passion. I Play the piano since I was a small Boy. During weddings I sometimes Play the organ in church, that's fun!

- BEWARE: I am a coffee nerd!
Half of my kitchen is coffee equipment: The Italian Bialetti or the German art of Handfilter - there is everything ready for a decent cup of coffee as soon as you enter our home!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is one exciting story I'd like to share:

In the summer of 2010 I did an Interrail-Tour through Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
On my train from Budapest to Beograd (night train) I met a few nice people, all my age. Three English students, two Polish girls and one guy from South Korea.

We hardly slept that night on the Train, but talked about our holiday. Later we shared a hostel and had 2 awesome days in the capital of Serbia.

On the second day we all headed for different directions. My trip went on to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Hercegovina. It's a fascinating town I like to visit again very soon.

I stayed there for three days and then travelled on to Zagreb (Croatia). From there I took another night train down the coast to Split, the second largest city in Croatia.

It was very early in the morning when the train arrived and I had a walk through the city. Later on I came back to the station (to check the schedules). Guess who ran into me on the riviera? Damian whom I met on the night train from Budapest. A few hundred miles away from Beograd and many days later.

This indeed has been an awesome coincidence!!! Nothing planned, just pure luck...

We had a drink on the beach and went on talked about Croatia.
I left for Slovenia and we promised to meet again in his home in London soon.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We usually cook vegan, so if you like to spend some time with us, it would be great to share our kitchen with you: We enjoy cooking together with our guests as well as we enjoy other people cooking for us.
