Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To tread lightly on this earth and make it a happier place
ABOUT ME
I have a deep love for travel and was lucky enough to marry someone with the same passion. We've covered more than 100 countries so far but there are still so many places to see!
In 2014, I became awakened to the compassion for all living beings that was always inside of me and transitioned to a vegan lifestyle. I have combined my passion for travel with my passion for veganism by creating The Nomadic Vegan - an online vegan travel resource where I highlight delicious vegan foods from around the world and show people how they can be vegan anywhere and spread compassion everywhere.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I first joined Couchsurfing back in 2005. I had some great experiences both hosting and surfing back then, but then I didn't use the site for a number of years. Now that I am doing some solo travel once again, I've rediscovered Couchsurfing. I have already met some amazing people and look forward to making many more friendships and connections through this site.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All of my couchsurfing experiences have been wonderful, and I have met some kind, generous, and fascinating people. The host who stands out above them all is Sorif in Dakar, who just can't say no to couchsurfers. There were five of us staying at "Sorif's Hostel" all at once!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: The God of Small Things; the Book Thief; anything by Paolo Coelho.
Movies: I don't watch movies often. When I do it's usually fantasy films for kids (Harry Potter, How to Train your Dragon, etc.)
Music: Simon and Garfunkel, Coldplay, Counting Crows, Less Than Jake, and lots more...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walked the Camino de Santiago. I really felt the spirit of the Camino and saw how it brought out the best in people. When hiking I usually prefer solitude, but, as I discovered, the Camino is not a hike, it's a pilgrimage. The best part about it for me was the people I met along the way.
After walking my first Camino in 2017, I have walked a different route of the Camino every year since then. My husband and I started a blog and podcast where you can read and hear stories about our adventures on the Camino: https://spiritofthecamino.com/
Teach, Learn, Share
I am interested in language exchange with anyone who wants to practice their English in exchange for helping me with my Galego, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian or Chinese. I would love to learn about the plant-based food in your culture and swap recipes too.
