About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Training of the mind and body leads to awareness of the soul." — B.K.S. Iyengar

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in honolulu, Hawaii. I am an iOS developer with a strong focus on local food systems and organic waste management. Sustainable living and learning has been my passion for many years. I am a vacation rental property manager, so it is my job to leave places nicer than I find them. I am a very respectful and agreeable guest. I love learning about and practicing primitive skills and wilderness awareness.

PHILOSOPHY

When what you think, what you do, and what you say are aligned, that is true harmony.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Try to brigdge the gaps between stranger and friend. Exchange stories, cook meals, leave places cleaner than I find them, fix things, create, teach, learn, share

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

in hawaii, all over the us, canada, india, and mexico. wonderful people every single time!

Interests

Making stuff and doing things. I love to spend time leatherworking, reading, hiking, culturing foods, fixing things, building gardens, planting seeds, practicing primitive skills, fixing bicycles, learning new things like beekeeping and computer programming.

Music, Movies, and Books

the spell of the sensuous, lost language of plants, food not lawns, born to run, sex at dawn, jolie holland, parov stelar, django reinhardt, po girl, be good tanyas, bob dylan, CCR, foreign films, documentaires, cool hand luke, the fall, etc. Just great rare media

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Study yoga and photography in india. took the risk to save a friends life and succeeded. hitch hiked and hopped trains around mexico. build gardens, make change and growth happen before your eyes in the soil and land. lived in a wilderness valley for 4 years in remote hawaii where access was only by boat or helicopter. I lived in a military tent, designed-salvaged-and-built a cabin myself with sustainable materials, hunted/gathered/grew most of my food, hauled my water, installed solar power, canned foods, truly hacked it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have studied sustainable organic farming and living methods. I really enjoy learning, practicing, and teaching primitive skills and wilderness awareness, charcuterie, fermented foods, bookbinding, shoemaking, etc.
