Обо мне

CURRENT MISSION

find the meaning of life

ABOUT ME

I'm super nerdy and super adventurous. I love learning and exploring, especially old run-down buildings and unspoiled nature hikes. I especially love meeting new people! I've been traveling by myself for awhile now, and I love every minute of it!

PHILOSOPHY

I don't really have one yet. Part of traveling is trying to figure stuff out. Am I supposed to be doing work to help drive the human race forward, is there some purpose to life? Or is it just about having the best time you can before you die? Any thoughts or insights on my internal struggle would be extra helpful.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't yet :( But I've met a lot of amazing people in my travels who are CSers, and a lot of my friends say the CS community is the best, so I'm really excited to meet people and hang out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None :( but I hope to change that!

Интересы

I really like urban exploration, which is a fancy way of saying exploring old abandoned shit that you sometimes aren't supposed to be exploring. One of my favorites here in the SF bay area is Drawbridge, an abandoned town near Fremont that's slowly sinking into the bay. The only way to get there is to hop a couple fences and run across a bridge that may or may not have a train on it at the time. But in exchange you get access to marshes with stunning salt formations, and a bunch of old wooden buildings sinking into the bay. It's extra cool.

I'm also extra nerdy (i.e. smart with a passion for learning new things). I help run a program called NerdNite, where you get a bunch of smart people together in a bar, get drunk, and learn cool things from other drunk nerds. It's the best. :)

Музыка, кино и книги

I will basically read whatever book I can get my hands on. I definitely like Science Fiction the most, just because it raising really interesting questions about what the world would be like in 50+ years. My favorite book ever is 1984.

JOSS WHEDON. I love him, and I put him on every profile everywhere, because I've become friends with every Whedon fan I've ever met. I don't think it's possible for two Whedon fans to not become friends.

Классная вещь, которую я сделал(-а)

One Thursday night I went out drinking with a bunch of 80 year old sailors. They frequent this hole in the wall dive bar, where they perform sailing songs with their 80 year old band. Then they get into their boat, drinking rum and singing drinking songs about piracy. We use the boat to bar-hop between a couple different places, and once they're out of range of the coast guard, they fire a cannon. It was the ultimate pub-crawl.

Canyoning in Croatia was probably the most fun I've ever had. You hike through natural caves, cliff jump off waterfalls, and swim down the rapids. It's basically as much awesome as you can fit into a day.

Probably the most breathtaking was the Milford Trek in New Zealand. It's a pretty easy weeklong backpacking trip (they have pre-made campsites for christ sake. It's basically a cakewalk) but every day just brings something new and breathtaking. Halfway through the week, you climb over the mountain pass and get a breathtaking view of two valleys on either side. And on the final day you're treated to a boat ride on the scenic Milford Sound. I've been to a variety of very beautiful places, and New Zealand really just tops them all. By far the best hike I've ever done, and if you're ever in NZ, I highly recommend it.

Учу, учусь, делюсь опытом и информацией

I'd love to teach anything I know! I love knowledge transfer, and I would love to teach whatever I can. I specialize in computer programming, so if you need help with that, I'm your man!

I'm really interested in other people's life perspectives. I'm trying to figure out what makes the human race tick, what we all have in common, and how we see things differently. So really, I want to learn about you, and your culture. Also your accent! I do improv in my free time, and I'm hoping to learn some awesome accents to use in my future characters.
