One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Jiankou, one of the most dangerous and isolated part of Great Wall. I unknowingly realized we had to literally climb the mountain to the peak as this portion of the wall isn't for usual tourists. Under sub zero temperature,we had to traverse slippery slopes, go around cantilevering boulders and then to suddenly find ourselves lost from the climbing group. Worst, we had to balance and walk on a 5m long thin piece of metal that was part of a collapsed bridge connecting both egdes of the mountain, 10 storeys valley below! Being able to finally reach the top unscathed but only mentally and physically drained, and to finally savour the untouched ruins of the Great Wall as it was centuries ago was a worth all the life-threatening maneauvres. I still remembered the moment I stepped on the ruins after hours of climbing, I slumped on the cold snow covered floor, closed my eyes and immersed the comfort of what laid under me together with the immense effort it took to build this one-heck-of-a-wall...
