About Me

Art history student currently exchanging at the University of Edinburgh. Fancy a life on journey, willing to meet people, passionate about new things. I was quite educated in an unworldly, scholastic way, but I feel an intrinsic motivation pushing me out of my comfort zone. To adapt a quote by art historian Aby Warburg for self-introduction: old-fashioned at heart, moderate by blood, explorative in spirit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced by a friend who depicted me his wonderful experience with CouchSurfing. As a newcomer I consider it a great way to get assimilated into local culture and most of all, to make new friends!

Interests

I love my major. I enjoy every minute in art galleries and museums. Basically I'm fond of all art forms, music, opera, films, photography, just to name a few. I play some trumpet and can do a bit Waltz, maybe even some Argentina Tango. Have intense interest in languages so maybe you can teach me your mother tongue and vice versa!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've played in the orchestra since primary school so I'm more familiar with classical music, but also enjoy jazz played with trumpet, say by Louis Armstrong and more recent Chris Botti. For movies and books I would favour those provoking some food for thought, but shall also be happy with an action film or a detective fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being the principal trumpet at the school brass band and getting a performance trip to HongKong!

Teach, Learn, Share

Although I'm not a qualified cook I can still offer helpful tips on how to make traditional Chinese cuisine, such as rice dumplings, which is an icon for Chinese New Year, i.e. the Spring Festival. I'm also eager to learn to prepare local food and to share it with family and friends!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to share with you the culture of my home country and am more than happy to hear your perspective for China!
