About Me

Hello! Here is some information about me:

- I graduated from the University of California Irvine with a degree in Business Economics.
- I am Chinese, but born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
- I work full-time as a technology consultant.
- I have a girlfriend who is Korean.
- I own a home and live with my girlfriend, as well as two other roommates.
- I'm generally an introvert, but I try my best to go outside of my comfort zone to experience as many things as possible. This has led to some bad, awkward experiences, but also great, life-changing ones.
- I'm sociable and very hard to anger.
- I love to walk, explore, and drink. Preferably all three at the same time.
- My current hobbies include distance running, reading for fun, studying for the GMAT, exercising to burn fat, playing video games, and drinking alcohol.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was younger I thought of Couchsurfing as a way to possibly get a free bed. Now that I'm older though, and I can afford to pay for my own place, I use Couchsurfing purely as a social tool. I can buy a night at a hotel, but I can't buy a friend for a trip.

I'm perfectly capable of exploring a city by myself, but it can be more fun to do it with someone local. So that's why I have this account. If you're reading this, I want to be your friend! Let's hang out. I'll buy you a drink! Please explore with me!

Unfortunately I cannot use Couchsurfing as a host. I own a house and live with two paying roommates. I do not want to risk any negative interactions with my roommates, so I cannot accept any couchsurfers into my home. Sorry!

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to read a lot as a kid. Unfortunately reading is a really low priority in my life right now. The only reading I do is for GMAT study material. If I can get into business school, I assume that the only reading I'll be doing is for my classes. I've been reading Dirk Gently's book for like a year now though! I'll finish it one day hopefully.

I don't really go to the theaters anymore unless I really want to see the movie. Usually the only movies I watch in the theater are Marvel movies. Everything else I watch at home using my Fire TV. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime are my deal, yo.

I'm not an audiophile but on Spotify I like to listen to the Pop Rising or Dance Pop playlists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Of the top of my head, in Thailand I met with two random couple on Phi Phi Island. We got wasted, explore the island, watched a boxing match, and enjoyed the beach. I'm doing a terrible job describing it, but my memory of that night gives me a lot of joy.

Teach, Learn, Share

If there is something I could teach everybody, it would be that arguing has never led to both parties feeling happy. The way arguments work is a lot like battling. Both sides gear up with defenses and attack. Even if someone wins, you both lose stake in the relationship. If you are a kind-hearted person, it is impossible to win a heated argument against someone you care about and feel good about yourself. The only solution is to prevent the argument in the first place, usually by defusing the situation before it escalates into an argument.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will give you the kindness in my heart in the form of my company, smiles, affection, sympathy, and politeness. I'll probably also buy you a drink if I'm not driving.
