Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experience as a traveler so far took place in several cities in Europe I´ve been in jan/feb/march of 2007. I can only say it was absolutely AWESOME. I met great people and everyone was way beyond my expectations. I can´t wait to travel again and meet more surfers to expand my contacts and make new friends around the globe. Since then, I have met some nice people who were passing through Rio, it was great to take them out for some nice party, touristic place or a drink.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*The Sormiou Calanques in Marseille: I tryed to reach that all by myself, got lost, thirsty and scared. But then on the way I met this french lady and she took me down with her and it was absolutely worthy. The ocean, the sun, the wind... probably one of the most beautiful places I´ve been to (I´ll put pictures here soon!)

*The Scottish Highlands: my couchhost Rachel took me 3 hours north of Glasgow. I saw the Loch Lomond and several incredible mountains. It was sunny so the yellow plants turned to golden and they would reflect that amazing color in the water... WOW! On the way back, the full moon just ended that unforgetable day perfectly.

*Yet in Scotland, I arrived in Glasgow from Paris at midnight without a single pound, cause my stupid mind thought they would take euros (why not???). After having to answer several questions in the imigration, I discovered there were no more buses to the city. So this amazing couple gave me a ride to Georgetown Square. I just started to walk like a homeless trying to find a internet place to contact Rachel. I ended up walking all over the city with help of the scottish people all the time. I got in the Celtic Connections Festival party in the Holiday Inn to find Rachel with my backpack, tired and looking miserable. I didn´t find her. I watched the best celtic artists and in the end of the party I just walked all way again to some hostel I was told about. I never took so many looks on the streets like that night! Some people would laugh, others would try to help, others would just look and wonder things... Now I just laugh about it, it´s all experience ;)

* Internship at Universidad de La Habana, Cuba: I studied in the "Facultad de Historia e Filosofia" in Habana for 6 months, it was definitely a life changing experience. I met the greatest people, found love, learned to study like never before and learned a spanish de puta madre!! I got the chance to travel the whole country from one side to the other with the company of amazing people. It is a blessed land with so many interesting aspects. To get to see a different time of government and social arrangement than ours is so awesome. I recommend to everybody take your time and get to know the socialist paradise island in the caribbean. Cuba is forever in my heart!!!

*This year I did a round the world tour: Brasil-Argentina-New Zealand-Singapore-India-Egypt-Portugal-Brasil. No words to explain... I spent a month in NZ, travelled both islands along with a great friend and got to see amazing nature, camping and hiking everywhere. NZ is definitely the Lord of The Rings land! After that I spent 5 months in India, working in a children organization and travelling cross-country, an adventure I recommend only to brave ones!! India is... magnificent. It gets you drunk and amazed with no efforts at all. A journey, an adventure. LOVE it.
