About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Contemplation. Experience. Legacy.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty accessible guy, I don't like making things more complicated than they are. I am a very logic and understanding person. I am rather quiet for the most part, but I love goofing around with my friends, and I love clicking with new people and sharing some spontaneous laughs. I believe in making the best effort to be a positive influence in life and the world we live in. I've been Vegan for more than half my life and I've never used alcohol, drugs or cigarettes for entertainment because they just never did appeal to me. Anything artificial is unreal for me, I'd rather be high on life, as it is a lot less about instant gratification and much more meaningful. I basically don't believe any type of substance abuse conducts to edification, which is also called Straight Edge. Though I'm not intolerant and have no problem with other perspectives. I'm not the type of person who goes clubbing, but I'll go every once in a while if everyone's going, so I can definitely show you the city's night life/club scene too. Nevertheless, I'm someone who'd rather take a long walk, show you a nice view of the city at night or have a long, deep conversation until dawn.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in constant development. Individually and Socially. I try to avoid stagnation as it represents the opposite of life for me. I don't think trust comes easy, but as a consequence of interaction and a particular alignment and recognition of shared values. I believe all important things in life must be earned through effort and as a direct outcome of invested time and nourishment, and at the same time they should also be most cherished when they happen to fall into your lap.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to contribute by offering one more place for travelers and helping others see the things that make this place unique and different for visitors coming from different backgrounds and cultures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last summer I had the opportunity of living the CS experience while I was hitchhiking through Europe and it was marvelous every time. I met some genuinely kind and interesting people with whom I felt an affinity for living life in a freer way. In the midst of all kinds of individualist cultures people come together here to meet people, to embrace them and get to know each other, to mend our broken bonds that countless outside factors have managed to fray or tear. I have had a couple requests that didn't work out at the last minute, but I look forward to receiving my first couchsurfers!

Before that, I had both hosted and stayed at other people's places through traveling on my own and with friends and I've come to appreciate the traveler's experience in relying on others for a roof and food from both perspectives. So this is something I completely identify with and can stand behind from personal experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

This could get long. I listen to Hardcore/Punk mostly, some Metal as well. But I love mellow music too. Lately I listen to Indie a lot. The most influential singer/writer in my life is Morrissey and I love all things Morrissey/The Smiths related. Some authors I love and admire are: Erich Fromm, Freud, Nietzsche, Ernest Becker, Noam Chomsky and Frank Herbert. I am a big fan of cinema, all kinds of genres, I especially like German films of late, Alt films, Foreign films, Heist flicks, Old Mexican movies, etc. A few close to my heart are: (500) Days of Summer, Lost in Translation, Into the Wild, I Heart Huckabees, Amores Perros, Hable con Ella, Cidade de Deus, Fight Club, Die Fetten Jahre sind Vorbei, Revolutionary Road, Old Boy, The Dreamers, The Libertine, Lord of the Rings, Trainspotting, The Beach, Snatch, Waking Life, Superbad, Yes Man, Kung Fu Panda, Etc. (This could go on forever) I like newer films as old ones just don't appeal to me for the most part, with some obvious exceptions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To me the most amazing things are not related or ascribed to some shallow concept derived from mainstream media/propaganda. The most amazing things I've experienced can be found in the smallest details, in a gesture or words, granted I have seen far-off places and cultural contrast, but at this point in my life all the shine and glamour has taken a step back to allow enjoyment in the pure simplicity of life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I couldn't pinpoint something in particular, but I like to think I've had a wide enough life experience to where I can share some of the richness of life as it's been shown to me and maybe people can grow in one way or another from it, as I have. In other words, it's as simple as being nice to a stranger for a change, and share some laughs, because sometimes great things come at the least expected moment in life, from the most unsuspecting sources.
