About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Europe, we are coming! :)

ABOUT ME

I love to learn and try to keep a good eye on the things that hold our world together (or even allow it to exist at first). In my opinion it is always a good idea to experiment and experience something yourself, before building your opinion around it.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to experience as much of the world as possible, even if it would be wiser to keep house with my ressources... ;) There's so much to learn and discuss to gain a decent point of view.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe in the good in mankind and therefore welcome greatly the idea of this platform. I think, this is one of the few lasting ways to ultimately break down the virtual barriers between the peoples of the world. So I am very sorry I cannot offer a couch at the moment, due to limited space in my flat and time at my hands. At the moment I prefer to make no general promises for having time to meet someone whatsoever, as my current schedule is way to clogged for even my own perception. If you don't mind, feel very free to contact my anyway ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a great weekend in London, surfing together with a friend of mine. The first experience using my own profile was a trip to Basel (CH) to attend a conference.

Interests

Everything people can get excited about has to be interesting in some sense or another. I love to spend my time by reading news, programming or bathing in (meta-)information about (molecular-)biology, astronomy or other man-made or natural phenomena. As everthing wants to be unterstood, there is a wealth of reason in the history of each and every thing in this universe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy anything that has a vision - my favorites are likely sci-fi novels and movies, such as recently Last And First Men by Olaf Stapledon or the works of Isaac Asimov, like the Foundation trilogy. I like highly fantastical movies like Avatar as well as GATTACA or Lord Of War. There are works like Matrix, Underworld etc., not to mention the huge universe of animation with masterpieces like Watership Down, Waking Life, Gankutsuō, Spirited Away, Grave Of The Fireflies and many many more... Of the countless documentaries I watched, one lasting influenced my life: Earthlings. Music used to be a big part of my life, but my taste depends largely on current moods; it roots in power- and symphonic metal, grows through electronica and reaches sometimes even into recent pop music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working with the bricks of life can be an exciting experience - as is standing on top of a mountain in the middle of the night and watching faint galaxies. Why judge if it is not necessary?

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not a big fan of knowledge-on-demand, as in my opinion, sharing occurs automagically during intimate discussion about favourite topics. Nevertheless, if you want to enjoy endless monologues about programming, astronomy or the inner workings of living cells, feel free to offer me a couch for one or two nights... ;)
