About Me

Hello! We are "DINKs" (double income, no kids) and are eager to use our freedom to our advantage and travel and learn from the people we are lucky enough to meet. We generally travel together, but i have more flexibility with my time off. I'm a seasoned backpacker and he's a newb. :) We love to "do" things from sports, to dancing, to live theatre, to vegan cooking/eating, to (especially) conversing with bright, insightful people. I am on my 4th career as an RMT. Luke is a project manager and estimated for a construction company.

PHILOSOPHY

As far as traveling goes, it's the people that makes or breaks the place. As for life: i say, live it, trust others, be productive, and just be nice. it is what you make of it, no one else has that responsibility but yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host when i can, but really, why would anyone want to come to abbotsford :P **disclaimer** We are really passionate about the true CS values, and thus, if you are only looking for a free place to sleep, we may not respond and kindly ask you to look elsewhere. We want to meet new friends. Thanks for understanding. (Plus you are allowed to camp in most parks in Abbotsford)

When i travel, i attend CS events, such as new years parties, field trips, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few, but surfed more. I love the idea as i get to meet locals and have real genuine experiences, rather that just the touristy stuff. I've met the most interesting people surfing and have been so grateful to everyone. After all, it is the people that makes or breaks a place. Looking forward to my next! Luke's new to the whole traveling thing but so far we have participated in couchsurfing events in prague, germany, and hawaii, and he's enjoyed every experience.

Interests

anything physically active, intellectually stimulating or something that'll make me laugh so hard i cry. we have been really spoiling ourselves these past years with rock concerts, live theatre, comedy shows, and summer festivals! We enjoy taking improve classes and painting classes and training for running races and triathlons. Of course we love traveling and meeting new friends and reconnecting with long lost ones.

I play ultimate frizbee and have my disc whenever i travel. I enjoy blues dancing and lindy hop and i try to dance in all the places i visit too. Right now i've been riding my road bike more than my motorbike but it's always a hard decision. I've recently got back into theatre and have done a few plays and a musical.

Luke likes movies, eating popcorn, running, soccer, reading, pottery, and trying new things with me. He's learning to dance and play the piano. recently, he discovered paragliding, but one thing at a time right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

off the top of my head, i liked "blink" and "philosophy and metallica."
I love music and have an OK diversity on my playlist. but my favourites are hard rock and right now i'm digging sound tracks!

Luke is hooked on trilogies right now. He's discovered electronic swing and it's keeping our toes tapping for sure!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

gee, every day i try to do something that amazes me, hard to narrow it down to just one... but one of my happiest memories was to be able to travel around the world in 3.5 months... But that is second to spending time with my wonderful husband.

Luke has really taken to the pottery wheel and has made some fantastic starter pieces.

We recently went on a bicycle tour around Cuba for 12 days, started running half marathons/marathons, and gearing up a triathlon in a few weeks!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been called a jane of all trades, just ask.... i'm interested in anything you're interested in... and if i don't know the answer, i know people that know people... I can teach you how to dance east coast swing/lindy hop, play ultimate frisbee, canadian justice system, like vagan food. LOL

he's a plasterererer by trade and is pretty good with a trowel... and an icing spatula too! Luke is a really soccer (football) player and can run like the wind. He's more interested in the construction sites of the places we've travelled.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love food and although i don't come bearing gifts as i try to travel light, i usually cook a feast for my host(s) and/or tidy their place up.

Between the two of us, we offer a myriad of experience with a few side splitting stories. we are fun and open-minded, and hope to be incorporated into some of your adventures.
