About Me
CURRENT MISSION
traveling, meeting people, enjoying it all!
ABOUT ME
We are a happy, lucky couple who love to meet other people, and like to explore new places and cultures. We quit our jobs and travel for months at a time every other year or so. Moved to San Francisco for a year and now are back in Florida. Have spent a few months in the Caribbean (camping and sailing) and mostly the western US - I've spent 2 years in Germany and 3 in Saudi Arabia, 2 summers camping in Baja California Mexico and ten years in the Western US. My husband has crossed the Pacific in a small sailboat with 3 other people, and across most of the Atlantic with two others, spent a summer in Iraq and traveled the Greek islands.
Last year's big trip took us to Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and a cruise from Italy to Greece, Jordan, Oman and The Maldives, ending with a trip to Thailand. This year we hope to retire and travel a bit before returning to our peaceful paradise to host others CSers who are on their trips! Please read the section "my home" - Couchsurfing makes it hard to find - but I have useful info for travelers - again - please read especially the transportation tips!
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short - get out and enjoy every minute.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For our first fourteen CS years we've hosted (mostly) international travelers for the cultural exchange aspects and a few time have taken them to our favorite springs in Florida . Hosted some travelers while in a tiny apartment in SF - we now have a bed available at our new place in Florida -with a hot tub under the stars.
We have a small place and prefer to use it hosting international travelers - (rather than running a hotel for Americans wanting a beach vacation. ) We've liked our American CSers but unless you are riding your bicycle across the US ... we probably can't host. We can host for one night in a pinch but prefer two (or max three nights), so we actually get to talk to our guests and find out about them and discuss where they have lived and visited and their adventures. I may have time to show you around and if not - have lots of maps and brochures and suggestions.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've hosted maybe 60 plus people in our home through CS. We have had great guests cooking their native dishes for us, telling us great stories and we've taken some canoeing and kayaking and camping with us. We enjoy discussing the things we have in common and cultural differences with our guests.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Tough question - but I think seeing the lava up close and personal as it oozed towards the ocean in Hawaii was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Don't drive out onto a tidal flat unless the locals tell you its ok. (if there are no locals to ask - get out and walk).
