About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently I'm walking from Scotland to New Zealand in aid of UNICEF

ABOUT ME

My name is James Thomas, I'm a photographer, documentary filmmaker and aspiring adventurer, and in January 2012 I'm going to begin the biggest challenge of my life, walking from Edinburgh, Scotland to Dunedin, New Zealand.

Born in a small village in the west of Ireland in the early eighties, I've always had a desire to expand my horizons and explore the world around me. Since leaving my village over ten years ago, I have travelled conventionally and extensively through Europe, The Middle East, Asia and The Indian Sub-Continent, always with the intent of photographing and documenting the people and places I encountered along my way.

Currently I'm living in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I have worked and studied for the past five years and where I'm preparing to begin my journey to the other side of the world. As part of my preparation I have designed and built this webiste so that people will be able to follow the progress of my expedition.

This journey will be a huge learning curve and I have no idea what to fully expect, except that I have to embrace the unexpected. It will challenge my view of the world and be a test of physical endurance but I know it will be a worthwhile adventure!

PHILOSOPHY

Man’s real home is not a house, but the Road, and life itself is a journey to be walked on foot.
