About Me

I'm an independent filmmaker who has traveled the world filming documentaries for TV. In the last few years I've made my own films including writing and directing this world famous short film - NatureRx -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf5TgVRGND4

As I'm an independent filmmaker I'm often raising money for my next project, traveling to scout out the next project or just enjoying meeting new people from all over. I'm easy going ang have a passion for travel and new experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard from a good friend that this was a great and safe way to travel, where you can meet awesome people and enjoy some local knowledge of a place. I've traveled for long periods of time and know how amazingly generous folks all over the world can be to travelers. I've often returned that favor in kind when someone needed a place to stay. Now I know there's a website to help do that more often. Awesome.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a long time lover of hip-hop, but I'm generally drawn to good music across genres, including indie rock from the 90s to the early 2000s. Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear.

I could talk and recommend movies forever - foreign and domestic films. I love directors Terrence Mallick, Yorgos Lanthimos, Park Chan-wook and other art house films. That said I'm not afraid to get into blockbuster films and classics like Die Hard and the Hunt for Red October. Also enjoy a few of the super hero movies out there. I have a movie theater subscription pass, so always down to catch a flick.

I've read a bunch of Buddhist books and decent meditator. I also love novels, but don't read them as much as I would like. Shantaram was a great one I recently finished.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh man, so many things, but probably speaking on stage with Jane Goodall at the World Conservation Congress in 2016. That and climbing above 10,000 ft with a Sri Lankan monk, named Sudamma in the Himalayas and watching him discover and play in the snow. Sudamma had never seen snow in his life before. Pretty special

Teach, Learn, Share

I've given a TEDx talk on better storytelling and messaging around climate change. I've spoken at the Brazilian National Parks Summit, Wisdom 2.0 in San Fran and the World Conservation Congress to name a few big speaking events. Always happy to share my experience around filmmaking, effective storytelling, the psychology behind messaging, how to be an independent artist, and activism.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Extensive knowledge of filmmaking and stories about my filmmaking adventures, loads of travel stories and film recommendations. I'm also Buddhist, having sat many meditation retreats. Always happy to share my knowledge and experience with that practice over the last 12 years.
