About Me

Hey! I visiting Tennessee for a week. I currently live in Nova Scotia but am work each summer in British Columbia as a treeplanting foreman. I have just returned to NS after about six years away, living and travelling to Central America (Panama and Guatemala), Africa (Kenya), and Canada's west (Northern BC).

I'm passionate about creative problem solving, mostly focusing on issues in environmental science and justice. I consider myself pretty open and because my job involves talking to lots of folks, I love to share stories. I'm an avid fan of basketball NBA and otherwise, and love to listen to music. Also really enjoy cooking!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I found couchsurfing through many good friends who have used this network to connect with amazing hosts and surfers. Couchsurfing is an amazing and informal community of people sharing their sofas and their communities. I'm excited.

Interests

I have been involved in environmental activism and research on and off for the past 5 years. That's mostly what sparked my interests in anthropology and languages, as a way to better understand and listen to other perspectives.

I love moving my body, which usually takes shape in riding my bike or playing ultimate/basketball.

Recently started attempting to make my own sourdough, and this is very much a new project. A work in progress.

My creative outlet has always been shifting, but I've always been drawn to music, visual media, and performance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've read and enjoyed books by authors that I totally disagree with, but I'd much rather movies and music that I enjoy. Old, new, genre-bending, everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helping plan and run a community environmental health forum in Kimende, Kenya where more than 200 community members came out and actively engaged in workshops around the environmental determinants of health.

I also threw a waffle BREAKFAST fundraiser at my house the day after St. Patrick's Day and somehow managed to convince a couple dozen people to show up.

What I Can Share with Hosts

For sure, I can share hot water/showers and a couch or bed. In addition to that, my time, coffee, and shared meals is something I am more than happy to share. In terms of intangible things: conversation, card games, a willingness to show someone the city.
