Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't like feeling like a tourist, and I think this would be a good way to get the most out of the city I'm visiting. I like to meet people and learn their stories, and I like to help people out when they need it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel, Built to Spill, Mac DeMarco, Joanna Newsom. Folk, psychedelic, and bossa nova are some of my favorite genres.

Movies: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Social Network, Jurassic Park, Breathless (À bout de souffle), Y tú Mamá También, Yojimbo, Persona, Dont Look Back. I love foreign films and documentaries, plus I am a film minor at university.

Books: Catcher in the Rye, Walden, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Watchmen
Walt Whitman is my favorite poet. I love to read graphic novels. Currently I'm reading Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal to improve my Spanish.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach- I'm a mostly self taught musician, I play guitar and bass. I have a few guitars laying around, I could teach you a few chords. I also have studied Spanish for about a year, and so I could share some of that knowledge with you. My goal is to someday teach English or foreign language in some way so I'm willing to help you improve your English if you need.

Learn- The languages I'm focusing on the most are Spanish and Japanese, any help learning those two languages would be greatly appreciated. I love learning about everything though, so I'd like to know whatever knowledge you have to offer.

Share- I live 15 minutes from a lot of interesting places in KC. I could share a local's knowledge of the cheapest, coolest ways to have a good time in the city.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook and so I could help buy food food and prepare it. Whatever is needed, I'll try and go out of my way to help get it done.
