CURRENT MISSION

Reminisce about travelling! Right now we are somewhat unable to travel abroad like before, and so my wife and I love visiting with people who have also travelled and hopefully we can hose people where we are! We hope to get back to it before too long. I thought travelling would get the travel bug out of my system before we began school, but it only increased our desire to travel more someday! We like to meet new people, and learn new things about different cultures and ways of life.

ABOUT ME

My wife, Milessa, and I have been married for just over 4 years (August 20- yes I know it!). We're a pretty easy going couple and are currently 2/10 trimesters though the Chiropractic program at PCC (my wife is doing a Chiropractic assistant program). After I finished my Kinesiology degree in October 2013 we took a year off to backpack around the world to the best of our abilities and it was awesome :). Milessa did 2 years of some university and Bible college (where we met) before that as well.

Our travels last year went something like this:
In March 2014 we took off for 3.5 months of travel in NZ, Aus, Philippines, & SE Asia. We then flew home for a month for Milessa's sisters wedding, before heading back on the road to Europe and eventually Peru and Central America.

We both live for God and do our best to our best to love people wherever we happen to be.

I have also been to Africa and Brazil for mission trips teaching about Jesus and English over 5 years ago and Milessa has been to Belgium and France doing similar work when she graduated high school.

We really enjoy spending time with our family and friends (though right now it is hard since they live in Canada), doesn't really matter what it is. We try to keep active by playing various sports and other activities often with family. Tennis, basketball, biking, frisbee, soccer, jogging, hiking, swimming, camping, longboarding, fishing... We're really not picky! Playing cards and watching movies are a good time too!

We like learning and doing new things. Rafting or caving in NZ, snorkelling in Oz, preaching every day in The Philippines (after eating Balute), motorcycling through the mountains in Vietnam, hiking through the jungle in Laos, surfing in Hawaii, bungee jumping and sky diving (well just me for those 2).

Also, I love Slurpees and Milessa really loves Belgium Tarts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't really done much for various reasons. While in Europe we surfed at a few places and we loved it, wishing we would have done more in our time there. Before that, back in Canada I'd picked up many hitch hikers, and hitched a bit myself. I've also hosted a couple of times before we were married, but haven't been very stationary since we've been married until now.

BEST COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I picked up 2 people on the side of the hiway, and it turned out they were couchsurfers. They stayed at my house overnight and we had an awesome breakfast in the morning. Later on, because my roommates and I had nothing else to do that day, we decided to drive them 700 km's to their next destination and save them hitch hiking time. It was super fun and one of the more random little road trips I've done.
Then, over 3 years later, we got in touch with Kevin while in Dublin and he graciously allowed us to stay with him with his flatmates and took us to some live music.

Interests

Sports/activities- Tennis, basketball, biking, frisbee, disc golf, jogging, hiking, swimming, camping, longboarding, fishing. And now, more than I would like, studying has become what I do most.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Batman trilogy, The Bourne trilogy, the Matrix trilogy, The Rocky series, The Chronicles of Riddick, Inequality for All. Milessa likes a whole bunch of romantic movies, but even in those tends to fall asleep, so I'm not going to write any of her favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Aside from travelling, one of the coolest things I've done recently is- legally- officiate the wedding of one my best childhood friends back in Canada; that was a huge honour and great experience for me!
