About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently learning all I can about food and beverage. I enjoy cooking, brewing, and creating something to share. I dream of developing my own brand and open businesses in this evolving industry.

ABOUT ME

I get lost in my mind often. I dream of success, experiences, and pleasures. I have been working in kitchens for the last few years developing my skills as a cook. The kitchen takes a toll on its dwellers. Long hours, high heat, excess drinking. I want to learn about food but not like this. Traveling allows me to escape this hierarchy and reconnect with exploration and creation.

PHILOSOPHY

When visiting Washington D.C. I had an encounter with an 82 year-old man outside theLincoln Memorial. His name was Bueller. Bueller flagged me and my rutsack down and pointed out a few children playing across the way. He sat me down and we chatted for a few minutes about his son's hitching it back in the 50's and so on.

Bueller preached, "Whatever you do, don't worry about money. Money will come. Focus on being happy and you will be alright...just be happy."

I practice this continuously. I'm not very good at 'just being happy' however I suppose the journey is happiness compared to happiness being the destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On Couchsurfing I'm able to connect to people who want to do the same things I do. Go, eat, share, listen, and learn. Not many sour apples are into random, spontaneous acts, so Couchsurfing is a great filter for avoiding bad experiences and enjoying unexpected ones.

When I've Couchsurfed in the past, my experiences have been personal and revealing. I've learned from my hosts and hope they have learned something form me.

Interests

I enjoy practicing yoga and bodyweight workouts.
If you can't find me, find the nearest kitchen, foodstall, or pot on a porch.
Beers and a smoke over raging through the night, but I'm down.
Cuts and bruises come with hard work.
Ridiculous gabbing for the case of gab is a ball however we can only hear in true silence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While living on Maui, I helped a family of four descend a few waterfalls after the river had unexpectedly risen and trapped them. Together we worked our way down the river before they were picked up by a rescue helicopter. We met back on the road and embraced, happy to be safe and together.

I was walking in a not-so-nice-part of Mexico City and was mugged. I woke up with my backpack gone (yes, the worse) and pockets empty. However, I still had my shoes so I was able to run back to my hostel and proceed to freak out. Good times.

Teach, Learn, Share

We all have something to teach whether it be the skills we have mastered or not. By opening our eyes, shutting our mouths, and listening we are able to learn something more valuable than facts from a textbook.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A moment.
Sharing our whole lives is tough.
Let us share a moment.
