About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See the world, one couch at a time!
ABOUT ME
Grew up on my parents' sheep farm in rural Victoria, moved to Melbourne in 2005 to pursue a degree in Electronic Engineering, changed to the far superior Robotic stream of Engineering in 2009 and completed my studies in 2010. I returned to Oz mid-2012 after 14 months spent travelling around the States, and I'm now working full-time in Melbourne, saving money for further travel!
I'm a very laid back dude, who enjoys a good laugh, meeting new people, and riveting conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is still in a rather malleable state. Currently, I'm of the opinion that our reason to exist is to explore all that there is to explore. And whilst the vast majority of us can't afford space travel [yet], I think that Couch Surfing is the next best thing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, I've been solely a couch warmer. I'm keen to experience the CS life from the other side of the tracks though, and now that I'm back living in Melbourne, with a spare futon, I'm looking forward to giving back to community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couch surfing MADE my trip to the States in 2011-2012. I very quickly realised the benefits of staying with couch surfers as opposed to hotels - gaining genuine local knowledge about the area from people with no affiliation with touring companies and tourist attractions.
I have found couch surfers to be nothing but hospitable, friendly people who are only too happy to share opinions and knowledge. Through couch surfers I have been inspired, challenged, humbled and freed. It's a mode of travel that I implore all people to try!
Interests
My chief interests include music and technology. More specifically, my musical tastes revolve around Aussie hip hop and EDM. Re: technology, I try to keep abreast of any developments in future tech, mainly in robotics, and the web, and I'm a big advocate for open source software.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most recent awe-striking moment was in May of 2012 when I checked out the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Dang that thing is big! It's so vast and beautiful, it's hard to believe that it's real!
In January, 2012 I walked through Grand Central Terminal in New York. I must have stood there for close to an hour trying to take it all in.
In April and June of 2011 I witnessed Space Shuttles' Endeavour and Atlantis blast off from the Cape for the final time.
And before THAT, the most amazing thing that I had done was probably walking the streets of Rome back in 2008.
