About Me

Hello everyone!

I live and work in Paris. I work in communications for tech companies like Visa, Salesforce, Dropbox or Slack. I personally specialised in payments which was rather unlikely but all in all really fascinating. You would not believe how much you can learn on different cultures based on their payment habits!

I spent a year in California where I was a Fulbright teaching assistant in Sonoma State University. That year was transformative on so many levels, it was truly life-changing! I still look back to it as one of the best years of my life, in part because I got to travel a lot throughout the US with friends and meet a ton of amazing people through travels and cs.

I am originally from Lyon, France and have always been an enthusiast traveller.

Before I embarked on my Californian adventure, I completed my masters degree in American civilisation (it's a thing in France!) in June 2016. To this end, I did research on the representation of sexualities in contemporary American television, and hopefully I'll do more around that topic at some point!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to give back a little bit because I had so many great experiences on cs!

Interests

I'm extremely interested in the media and the way they impact our lives, were it on a conscious or subconscious level. I studied them during my research years and now I get to work with them through communications strategy which is kinda wild (and sometimes a little scary when you realize the impact you can have in the way people shape their opinions).

Politics are fascinating to me as they have an effect on so many areas of our lives and can be a topic for so many heated debates. I find it extremely interesting that some people can be so fixated on ideas and opinions and become deaf to what the others are saying when it doesn't go their way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Woodkid, La Femme, Angèle, Bon Entendeur, Sebastien Tellier, Tame Impala, Ratatat, Beyoncé, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Queen, but I also enjoy listening to Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande sometimes.

My favorite movies are Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, Xavier Dolan's Mommy and most of Wes Anderson's movies, though my heart is set on Moonrise Kingdom.
Because I studied series for my research I can have some strong opinions on series. My recent favourites include Big Little Lies, Master of None, Grace & Frankie, while my all time favorites are Sex and the City, The Office, Parks and Recreation and Game of Thrones (I've also read all the books).

I love reading, I'd say my favorite novel is Aurelien by Aragon, but it can change a lot based on what my mood is like. I recently read a lot of crime novels, like Fred Vargas's books or the Millenium series. I started to get into audio books as well and I am listening to Proust.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I woke up on a beach on Maui, surrounded by dozens of turtles.
I've exhausted a roomful of Texans by dancing a whole night in a country music club in Houston.
I saw the sunrise at Haleakala in Maui and the sunset on a boat in Key West.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to be a French TA in Sonoma State, so obviously I love sharing about my home language and culture. I am also very curious about other people's worldviews and like discovering new ideas, ways of thinking and languages.

I love talking, exchanging ideas and rarely shy away from a debate if I'm passionate about a topic (and I'm pretty passionate about a lot haha)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I moved in a 1 bedroom apartment in Marcadet Poissonnier, super close to the Sacré Cœur and the Moulin Rouge. I have a foldout couch and even though my place isn’t huge it’s comfortable enough to have people over!
