About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to hike the entire length of South America with my best friend. We will start on October 1st from Cabo Froward, Chile, the southern most point on the continent. Over the next year and a half, we will hike to Punta Gallinas, Colombia, the northern most point of the continent, without the benefit of transportation. No cars, buses, motorcycles- only walking. We will follow the Andes the entire way, passing through Chile, western Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

ABOUT ME

I am 28 years old and a student in Philadelphia, where I study English literature, Spanish, and Latin American studies. Over the last four years, I have sought adventure wherever I could find it. This includes hiking over 1500 km along the Appalachian Trail in the United States, completing el Camino de Santiago in France and Spain, and 4 months of backpacking through Peru and Colombia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Arriving in a new city, it can be extremely difficult to find the true nature of the place. It's too easy to end up in an expensive hotel, go to a nice restaurant that serves inauthentic recipes, and go have a few beers at a bar with no personality. Meanwhile, you meet no one but other tourists. This is not the way to travel.

I love Couchsurfing because it provides an introduction to the people that are actually living in that location. I want to experience the city the way it was intended. When I host, I try to show people the Philadelphia that I know and love- my neighbors, the hidden secrets, the restaurant you never would've found as a tourist. This is exactly the experience I try to have when I travel as well.
