About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world, meet good people, drink good beer, and have fun.
ABOUT ME
I grew up on the central coast of California, and then went to school at the University of California in Santa Barbara as an engineer. While in school, I used to participate in collegiate triathlon, however now I am so absorbed in work I only have time to run.
I wish that I had gone to film school, because I love movies. Old sci-fi cult classics like Robocop, Predator, Logan's Run are all ones that I can appreciate. If you have any love of these, we have a lot to talk about.
My greatest fear is that I wake up old one day and realize that I have done nothing interesting with my life, and I have wasted all my good years working.
At heart I'm a computer nerd. While I do a lot of other things to the contrary, I still love pirated software and computer games. Use the subject line "Robocop" when you message me!
PHILOSOPHY
Brunettes not fighter-jets; sweet sixteen, not M-16s. (if you've never listened to the New Zealand parody folk group Flight of the Conchords, you should look them up on youtube!)
If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. (This one is overused, but I still love it.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Over the past six months I have had a lot of Couchsurfers stay with my roommate and I. She is a Couchsurfing ambassador, so we host a lot of people. On a monthly basis, our friends host a Couchsurfing potluck near our house, that I try to participate in when I'm in the East Bay. Also, I have participated in the Central Coast potlucks as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Over the last summer, I have hosted a bunch of people with my roommate Alison. So far everyone has been totally awesome - the hardest part about Couchsurfing is the thought that you might not see some of these people again. I have surfed only once, in LA with Carrise (see friends list), but I intend on surfing in Europe in December and January. I have also had the opportunity to meet some of the officers and creators of Couchsurfing at various parties at the Berkeley "base camp". (Am I the only one that thinks the base camp name sounds a little too hardcore?)
Interests
I love movies. If it has guns, dragons, aliens, or Arnold Schwarzenegger (I knew how to spell his name when I was 7) you can just about guarantee that I've seen it, and I know all the lines. As I said - I should have gone to film school, that's why when I return from Europe I'm going to buy a camera and start making some short film with my roommate.
I love to draw and paint as well. My mother is an artist, and she taught me what she knew while I was young. I hadn't done it in a few years, but I recently started drawing again, and I realized that I could still do it.
I work out religiously. I used to be addicted to triathlon, and I did quite well. However, after school, I let myself go due to work, and now I am trying really hard to get back into shape. So now I run and lift weights regularly.
This summer, I started learning how to sail, and I will continue to do this when the weather in California gets a little warmer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was at a really small bar in Crocket, CA to see Foxboro Hottubs (Green Day's alter-ego band), and I waited 4 hours to see them. I was LITERALLY, the last person to get inside (I had one bouncer pushing me out, and another pushing me in). Earlier, my friend Patrick and I had given up on the line and walked to a bar, but on coming back to the line, the nice girl Katie, whom we had been talking to while in line, was now at the front of it. She was nice enough to persuade the bouncer to let us in. I was 5ft away from Billie Joe Armstrong (the lead singer of Green Day) while he was highly intoxicated on illicit substances. This will probably be my best concert ever, I was so happy to be there, in a tiny bar with 100 other people, to see my favorite band. Every concert I go to, I hope to recreate this experience.
