About Me

I have a fierce love for learning and love meeting new people to get different perspectives on the world. Although, I'm personally non-religious, I still like to learn about world religions. If you're not shy about it, lets talk about your faith or spirituality! I'm also very interested in politics, psychology, and philosophy.

I have worked a variety of jobs including : working at Target, working for DMG (a door to door sales company), hr, working at a Bath and Body Works, a variety of jobs at a hotel, fast food, doordash, e-commerce, and working as a Direct Support Professional helping teens with disabilities. Each of them offered their own unique experience. Unfortunately, I seem to spend my money on food as fast as I earn it! Right now I'm hoping my travels give me some insight into what I may want to do with my life.

Aspirations (All of these are important to me and aren't in any specific order)

I'm *not even close* to this one at the moment (in fact, I'm pretty broke), due to a few failed online businesses and money spent traveling, but I eventually want to have enough money that I can give thousands away in cash to charity without having to worry about my own well being. Effective altruism is something that's interested for me awhile now and I think it's something everyone should look into

Another major aspiration would be to become an expert in something. It apparently takes around 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to become an expert in something, but I usually stop around 500 - 2000 hours. That could mean going to grad school and then getting a PhD. Or it could mean becoming an expert in e-commerce or a full stack web developer. Quite a few possible routes.

Mend ties with some family members that I haven't spoken to in awhile. This probably sounds so much easier in theory then it is and practice.

A fourth major aspiration would be to start eating vegan again (for ethical and environmental reasons) and contribute in some way to spreading the message. At the moment, I'm reducetarian.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love experiencing new things and I think there would be nothing better than experiencing the culture, music, customs, and food from different places around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shows: The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Heroes (the first season only), Lost, The Expanse, The OA, Hannibal, Orange is the New Black, Russian Doll, Dark, Boy Meets World, Attack on Titan, Stranger Things, Westworld

Videogames: Dark Souls, Life is Strange, Zelda (all of them), Super Mario, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger

Movies: Anything by Tarantino, Saving Private Ryan, The Lord of the Rings, Silver Linings Playbook, Up in the Air, Harry Potter, Les Miserables, Minority Report, Akira, Goodfellas

Music: I generally prefer instrumental music. Music where lyrics aren't the centerpiece of the song.

As far as music with lyrics:

Queen, The Beatles, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Morrison, Jason Mraz, Regina Spektor, pop, classical, ska, jazz -- definitely a wide variety

Books: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Once a Runner, LOTR, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, The Silver Linings Playbook, Looking for Alaska, The Bartimaeus Sequence, Battle Royale, Freakonomics, Thinking Fast and Slow, Blink, The Tipping Point, The Great Gatsby, Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, American Gods

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Succeeded in college, despite an ever fluctuating level of motivation. I also helped my High School X-C team compete at All States. If you're into running at all, I wouldn't mind talking about that. Hitchhiked across a third of the United States.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Skills that I have that I’d love to share with my hosts (I’m *not* an expert in any of these).
-Chess. I’m 1450 on lichess and 1350 on chess.com. Given how often I practice and watch chess content on youtube, you think I’d be better but c’est la vie. I know it can be intimidating when you’re first starting, but I’d love to teach you!
-E-commerce (This entails website building, advertising, and getting the product to the customer through amazon or another supplier). It’s my goal to be able to make enough money so I can travel without worrying about my finances. I’ve made three websites so far. They’re all a work in progress, but feel free to let me know what you think:
