About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm on 1 year hiatus from work and I'm traveling and doing things I couldn't do with a job that requires me to show up every day.
ABOUT ME
I'm a very clean guy and low-maintenance. I'm happy to keep to myself but I also like to be social. I like to learn about new things and do things the locals do rather than the big tourist stuff. Although I have done plenty of tourist stuff in the US and UK and some of them should be done once because they can be pretty cool.
I'm fairly tall and athletic; I like to play sports but I hate the gym. I don't really like "dance clubs" where the music is so loud you can't talk to anyone, but I love a good lounge with good soft music and a nice environment where you can have a solid conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm taking this trip partially to develop a personal philosophy. Still a work in progress. Maybe you can help me?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm new to couchsurfing.com since I'm planning this trip to Europe, but I always offer for my friends to stay with me when they visit and often stay with them when I visit. We always have a fun time.
Interests
I'm a sailor; I race on a regular basis at home and I take vacations centered around sailing. I play and referee ice hockey. I'm a private pilot though I haven't flown in a while. I love science and technology and I often marvel at the progress of humanity. I'm not a big runner, but I'll play basketball or frisbee or anything that encourages me to move.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies with solid plots and intellectual humor, music with good soul-touching lyrics, and books that make you think about your existence.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My life-highlight has to be watching the Space Shuttle STS-125 launch from the closest place the public can get without being a VIP. 6 miles from the launchpad, the feel of man's ascent to the heavens touched my soul in ways I cannot describe. Also, I squealed like a 6 year old girl because it was just literally awesome!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a sailing instructor; I'm quite good at teaching people how to sail and race. I'm not a professional sailor or racer, but I do both on a regular basis and love to teach.
I also enjoy teaching anything that I know well, and to learn from someone in exchange.
I am interested in politics and current events, and talking about things in a constructive manner is so important to the peace and welfare of the world. We must understand and respect each other and discussing important topics is the only way to do that.
