I have just finished my MA in TV Journalism in England, and have moved to Beijing (a whole new world for me) for work.

Travelling and experiencing cultures and different foods and meeting new people (especially locals) is all I live for. Besides television news of course!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have joined CouchSurfing because locals are the best people to tell you about the place, wherever you go, so I try to avoid hostels and hotels. And I'll be using it to link up with other couchsurfers in Beijing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Brilliant - better than the most luxurious hotels, if you're looking for a taste of real culture when you travel... No tales of dangers thus far either!

Music, Movies, and Books

Classics by the Bronte sisters and Jane Austen to post-colonial literature from Toni Morrison. Documentaries on history - ancient history such as the Incans, and war history, and different cuisine - are my favorites. Movies: anything that's good and not too silly or chick-flicky!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacking Eastern Europe alone for 7 weeks; climbing a mountain in Slovakia; visiting Srebrenica (where 8000 men and boys were murdered) in Bosnia and meeting a survivor; hiking in New Zealand along the wild beaches and mountains... The list goes on.
