Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe this is one of the best ways of getting in touch with the locals, learning the language, and discovering places and things in new areas. When traveling around New Zealand we got great many opportunities to meet locals and to stay with them, and the trip was greatly enhanced by it. By the time though, we didn't use couchsurfing, but hitchhiking as our method of getting in touch with the locals. Besides this is a really nice way of being a part of something global, non commercial, that stems from the helpfulness and nicety of people around the world, so to say- one of the good sides to globalization.

Interests

I'm interested in quite a lot of things. The first that comes to mind here, is trekking. I'm an outdoors enthusiast, I love especially mountains and high terrain, as my home country mostly lacks those. I have also done some non technical mountain climbing around NZ and the Nordic Countries, and would really like to advance in that. I'm naturally a big fan of traveling, seeing new places, getting to know new people, discovering foreign cultures etc. As of "intellectual" interests I'm very interested in history and culture, and how they mold the world of today. I'm as well very interested in international politics and human geography in general. I also really much enjoy good foods and beverages (wines, beers etc.) and making them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow. A hard one, there would be a huge list here really.. So. My music taste changes over time, but I tend to listen quite a few genres, not really hiphop or rap though. And books.. Well I've enjoyed hundreds over hundreds of books in my time, and I think I'll just name a few authors from my shelve: Tolkien, Orwell, George R.R Martin, Isaac Asimow, Ken Follet, Esko Valtaoja etc. And of movies I'll just make a few random picks: Oldboy (orig), Tropa de elite (1&2), LOTR, Hayao Miyazakis films, Wes Andersons films, Ip man, The Fall etc.

I did like taking a year off and traveling to New Zealand before the university.
