I love independent travel, interacting with locals and going with the flow rather then ticking the guidebook recommendations. For me the highlight is to meet locals, spend time with them, exchange experiences and in this way learn about a new country. When I think of my trip to India, one of the greatest experiences I had was to have a meal from the same plate on the local market with a local met while walking in Varanasi, being invited to their home and meeting their family. That is why I am here in the couch surfing community, happy to make my travel authentic.
