Overview
About Me
Engineer, vegetarian, age 27, living in Seattle. I want to see, eat, bike, meet, and learn everything I can.
I studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Webb Institute in New York, best described as Hogwarts on Long Island for boats. Before, in between, and after my studies, I taught English, worked on farms, sailed in the Pacific, and biked and motorcycled around the country.
Professionally, I work for a shipyard in Seattle. I help plan, design, analyze, modify, and repair things that float.
I think it'd be pretty neat to help build a Mars colony some day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently biking the second half of the TransAmerica Trail, from Colorado to Maryland. The people you meet while bike touring are the absolute highlight of the experience. Well, that and tan lines.
I don't use Couchsurfing much, but I've been an active member of the WarmShowers community for 5+ years, which is like Couchsurfing for bike tourers.
If you'd like to see my Warmshower references/feedback: https://www.warmshowers.org/user/34490
I like to show my gratitude to hosts with a six-pack, so let me know if you have a favorite beer!
Interests
I like to ride my bike, read popular science and sci-fi, row crew, design ships, make terrible puns, cook for friends and family, and ride some more. I get excited talking about universal basic income, implications of artificial intelligence and driverless cars, effective altruism, and podcasts.
