Overview
About Me
I'm a biologist and photographer from the UK living in Bulgaria with my long-term girlfriend.
I am really interested in hiking, science, animals, nature, languages, movies and veganism!
Important things about me:
• I am a little introverted, I prefer calm and quiet places over loud and busy areas. For example, I don't like clubbing or partying, but a quiet cafe sounds good.
• I am vegan, which means I don't eat anything that comes from an animal (e.g. meat, fish, milk, cheese, yoghurt, egg, cream). If we share a meal I am happy to talk about what I can eat, I have travelled all over the world and there is always something vegan, don't worry! You can eat what you want, it is no problem for me.
• I am not interested in sex or money exchanges, please don't message me if that's your goal.
• All I want is to make people happy and connect, really.
• Sometimes I can be low energy, but that's just my awkward British side. I am not interested in money, consumerism, big egos, or anything like this. However, I love learning new things, seeing new places, and practising languages, these sort of things are my lifeblood.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Making spontaneous connections, experiencing new places in an authentic and ethical way, exchanging languages and stories, and generally to have fun :)
Interests
At the moment, most of my life consists of: renovating a rural village house, photography, rescuing and rehabilitating stray cats, strength training, hiking and running in the Bulgarian mountains, watching YouTube.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like fun movies, my favourites are by the British director Edgar Wright because they feel like home (e.g. Hot Fuzz, Last Night in Soho, Scott Pilgrim Vs the World).
My music tastes have been chaotic recently. I usually listen to metal, but now I like folk songs in different languages.
Recently I read the "Three Body Problem" trilogy of books and really love them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Witnessed elephant taming in Myanmar. Not amazing in a good way, but as far as I know, I am one of only a few foreigners that have been given permission to watch it. I was working as a research biologist to study what was happening, so we could help the elephants.
Teach, Learn, Share
English language (I have experience as an online teacher), vegan cooking, photography, movies, world music
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, conversations, photographs, a hiking buddy. English language transfer if you are interested in it.
I think of myself as down to earth, honest, and easy to get along with, and I hope to meet other people with the same qualities
