ABOUT ME

I'm a wanderlust at heart and love traveling and seeing all the world has to offer. Have jaunted across and lived in Italy, France, England, Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Mexico, Canada, and a good dose of the national parks and cities in the U.S. I left my heart in San Francisco along with the rest of me and my adorable amazing community here in the bay area. I love hiking, yoga, cooking, running, sailing, dancing, being with friends, meeting new people, philosophizing, Burning Man, the arts, and occasional quiet nights in with a good book.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed with amazing hosts in West Africa and have hosted others on my couch in SF. I also meet up for drinks, dinner, or a walk in one of San Fran's many beautiful spots.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Traveling is so much richer, more complex, comfortable and enlivened when we're able to interact with locals. When I've stayed with couch surfers while traveling abroad, I was able to learn and experience so much about the local culture that no hotel or hostel could have provided. With other couch surfer participants, I've found hole in the wall dancing spaces in the middle of Bamako, explored the little known botanical gardens of Accra, cooked a spontaneous dinner of tahini and kalamata olive pasta, lazed on the grass of Golden Gate Park listening to Hardly Strictly Bluesgrass Festival, marveled at the sun rises over Ocean Beach, and philosophized over the cultural origins of our respective countries. Couch surfing is how I connect to the world as a global citizen and marvel at both the commonalities and varieties of the human experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Aye, it changes with the moon. Some fav books include Gideon's Dream, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and the Phantom Tollbooth. Right now I'm listening to Beats Antique, Lady Gaga, B.O.B., MGMT, and Muse. Waiting for another really really good movie to come my way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tuareg musicians strumming the guitar and singing beautiful, haunting melodies around a camp fire in the middle of the Sahara desert during the annual Festival in the Desert. Like Burning Man, except not at all. We drove for two days in a shock-less SUV through hot sand and packs of goats and camels to arrive at more hot sand and camels, where you drink warm beer, feast on couscous and more couscous, experience the mysterious charm of the desert, and listen to some of the most deeply rootsy guitar currently out there.
