ABOUT ME

Was raised in Singapore, moved to the USA in my late teens and spent some time up north in Michigan. Ended up down south in Houston, where I've been for the past four years. Love it because it's surprisingly cosmopolitan.

Am really easygoing and can generally adapt to any situation that presents itself! It's difficult to offend me. I like meeting all sorts of people because you learn something from everyone. Plus points if you have a dark sense of humor. I can appreciate that ;) Just graduated from law school, so before I start work, I plan to experience as much of the world as I can, in as adventurous, carefree, and genuine a manner as possible.

I speak two languages -- my fluency in the second language really, really improves after about two glasses of wine. I pretty much live to eat! I like to viscerally experience a country through its cuisine. Love all types of food except raw celery, which is tolerable only in tuna salad. I also love collecting great words in different languages (saudade, schadenfreude, han, kismet, serendipity). And I love reading.

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem. Trite but still a pretty good philosophy to live by.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books: Will read anything and everything! Kafka on the Shore (Haruki Murakami) is probably one of my favorite books. I loved The Ground Beneath her Feet (Salman Rushdie) for its lyrical prose. Anne Rice's series is great too, as well as the Harry Potter series. Want to start on Game of Thrones soon.

Favorite authors are: Haruki Murakami, Salman Rushdie, Jostein Gaarder, Kazuo Ishiguro, Arundhati Roy, Chuck Palahniuk, Anne Rice, and Aldous Huxley

Favorite music: Adele, Amy Winehouse, Muse, Selah Sue, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Tom Waits, The Sixths, Ingrid Michaelson, etc. So I like a lot of different genres of music. Classical, soul, blues, folk, indie pop

Favorite Movies: Pulp Fiction, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Spirited Away, Dead Poets' Society, Memento, American History X, La Vita è Bella, Pride & Prejudice, Inception

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Little things that turned out to be cool: Climbed a huge granite rock in Austin. Drove to Key West in Florida to check out Ernest Hemingway's house and his polydactyl cats. Checked out a castle with a lion's den (absent the lion) in Scotland. Shot a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol. Tubed down the Guadalupe River with a cooler of beers.
