COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I do it guerrilla style. I showed up in NYC for the first time a few years back and started conversation with a cook at a falafel shop near Ground Zero. We hit it off and he let me crash on his couch for a week and a half. Next thing you know he moves to Charlottesville and becomes my roomate. We've been best friends ever since.
I've done similar couch crashing adventures all over the country: from New Orleans to San Diego.
