ABOUT ME

I am a rising senior at Yale University in beautiful New Haven, Connecticut, USA. I didn't travel abroad growing up, only around the States on fantastic road trips with my dad. Now, I'm trying to see as much of the world as I can. I've been awarded a travel fellowship for architectural studies for the summer of 2011 and it's taken me across Northern Europe and the Nordic Countries. Deep down, I think I'm Scandinavian, but who knows.

PHILOSOPHY

Is it lame if I say architectural empowerment? Is that such a thing? I really believe in the power of architecture on the world and the individual. Its an unavoidable but overlooked aspect of all history. Its a way to relate to and understand others, a statement on someones priorities and beliefs, and a way to organize our surroundings.

I'm also a very nice person.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm excited to see the world and meet now people. Traveling alone has perks (own food, own schedule) but can get lonely! CS is such a social and fun group of guys and gals, I want to become part of the organization and add my own smiling face. I've surfed a lot now and been to a number of CS parties...which can be amazing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only had wonderful experiences so far. For these first two months of summer, my best and most memorable experiences have been directly linked to CS.

Musica, film e libri

Oh man. Movies that are good, which tend to make me tear up. Music, generally stickin to my roots with country (Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Dixie Chicks, etc) but I like just about anything. I'm an avid book collector, mainly of architecture and design, but just ask and we can talk more about books.

If you've never thought about architecture in your life, have me over, and we can talk about the relevance (or non-relevance) of architecture. I'd be happy to cook with you! I also would love for you to teach me about your own food and life and how your daily life works. We can go to a supermarket together. Supermarkets are possibly my favorite place to go in foreign countries.
